Nice find. Once it is back together a running report would be welcome!

Darts are sweet little engines. I believe the last Quickstart Darts had a gold muff, white plastic tank and a spring starter.

Here is the one I had with a size comparison to an Arne Hende' Elfin 50 replica and also a display box for the Dart that I made to match up with the boxes I made for Arne.

Default Gold Head Dart

Nice one Dan.

Have you run it? It has the bevelled intake. In most late Darts that step was omitted.

My dark case "PK Special" gold head shown at the bottom of page 1 turned out to be anything but "special". Fits were not good. However I had a happy ending.

David Owen was the DC agent in Australia for many years until they ceased operation. He pronounced it "NBG" and replaced its working parts with some parts made during the 'good years' at Davies-Charlton. Now it is a gem.

No, never did run that Dart and sold it off on ebay a couple of years ago. I posted the picture in case some ot the sharp-eyed guys might see some difference, like the beveled venturi you noticed. I still have most of my Arne Hende' engines.

Default Goldhead Darts

This Goldhead Dart was as good as you could hope for out of the box.

The intake is bevelled. Case is bright. End float spot-on. Contra piston fit is perfect. No detectable leakage but it readily backs off when de-compressed.

The box says the manufacturer is "Quickstart Products". Does this date it as being made after the sale of the business by the original owner's family following his passing?

Err not quite Derek-the end of DC was a bit strung out. If my memory serves me correctly, 'Quickstart Products' was the company formed by a partial management buy out of DC Ltd-but before the remnants were bought by Ewdec Technology-somewhere in the era 82-84 I would suspect. Whether production was still going on (as opposed to assembly of engines from existing parts) is hard to say. The model magazines of the era noted -very briefly in passing-the auctioning off of plant around that time....

I cant look at another diesel for a while as I had the real diesel experience ,
blood thing yesterday

relocated the tank on rubber bands

, all greasy ,

motor not starting , not running right ,

hot dusty

rushing as the sun was getting too hot
