The design with the rear rotor is good, the quality is a issue, they have moved their production so many times, new workers. new setups, just about impossible to maintain quality
plus good materials...Fora, MVVS, from eastern Europe have it down, There have been so many posts how to get them up to snuff, the (Marz) enough said on this one
I would not take a chance and buy one if they were $15 I expect an engine to be right out of the box martin
I am not going thru the list again of my factory diesels and Davis conversions just no issues

Just on the 15s get a Fox 15 Davis head, PAW15, TAIPAN, MVVS 15 ( yes the MVVS is back)

Hi All:

After eight hours of Hell. I gave up on getting the Marz to run.

I heated the cylinder and got the contra piston removed. Cleaned the contra and cylinder and got the contra to move via the adjusting screw.

Now to the piston and sleeve. This fit was so tight that I could not turn the crankshaft past TDC without a good chance of breaking something. I lapped the p&c where the engine could be turned over by hand. I went to test stand but thought the it was still too tight to run in well. The pinch at the top was very severe.

I lapped the p&c a bit more and left a pinch at the top of the stroke thinking that it would break in with a super seal. To my horror, it did not run but still with the tight pinch at the top of the stroke, I had no compression! No, there are no leaks in the engine. On the bright side, the contra workss very well!! Lol

I tried to mix and match another p&c but the same thing, Tight pinch at TDC but no compression.

Stay well,

Franchi

Despite the fact that the Marz was free, I still paid a hefty price attempting to get it running! Lol

Lesson finally learned! No more cheap Diesel engines for me!

G'Day:

There was one on E BAy for $28.00 plus $8.00 shipping and it ended with NO bids. What does that indicate?

Franchi
That no one needs an extra one?

Possibly, but I'm hoping that they're all gone and that we can now move on to using some of the superb new diesels coming out of the FSU.

The more they sell the more money they can put into development.

The full story about how tons of model diesel engines ended up for sale in the west has been written up by Adrian Duncan IIRC.

It may have been published on the MEN site. It's an interesting read.

You do recall correctly Ray and it's ironic that you are telling me this as I was instrumental in getting Adrian some of the missing pieces of that story
(Long story short, I bought a Marz fron Ilya here in Oz on EBay and got talking to him - little did I know that he was the driving force behind the Marz virus on the world. And at the time I was also chatting Adrian about other Russian diesels. The rest is history as the saying goes.)

If you like to tinker with engines you will probably like them. If you need them to run out of the box, maybe not.

BTW, If you find one with muffler and want one without muffler, you can remove the muff, turn the muffler upside down and use it as a spacer, reassemble...and have the exhaust slits exposed. I broke mine in that way, then turned the muffler back over.

Do you have a scan? There are friendly Russians on the various control line face book pages.

If you can scan it, I'll post it on one of the international c/l FB pages.

I suppose that people are aware that there is a very comprehensive article on the MARZ written by Adrian Duncan at:

Never owned a MARZ but the blue colour sounds about right for gently tempering the shaft.
