Yippee! Contact made and engine soon on it's way. Thanks a bunch. These engines are a good value. They are elegant, simple and run well. It's suprising how long they run off that tiny acorn of a tank, too!

Received mine a couple of days ago.
What a cute engine.
Seems to be made to a very high standard, can't wait to run it in this week-end (weather permitting). Must dust off my ancient small propeller collection to see what I have ...

Use at least a well balanced 7 x 4 prop (I ran mine on an 8 x 4 yellow Tornado cut down to 7.5 x 4 for flywheel effect) and ether content per the instructions. Great little engine that doesn't need an r/c carby

I picked up a 7 x 5 MA GF 3 Series at the LHS yesterday.
At the bottom of my (ever growing) prop collection I know I have some old small yellow tornado's and blue kavan nylon props as well; dating back to my control line days in the early 70's, so I should have some options.
After paying (seriously) big $ for CF props for my petrol engines, paying less than $5.00 for the new prop was a delight!
I also found an ancient Taipan semi see-through deep cuff white nylon 8 x 6 nylon prop. The owner had discovered it when going through some old stock.
It is the most flexible prop I have ever come across ... almost floppy! I bought it too ... purely for nostalgia's sake; it's a bit too large for the MP Jet. I guess I'll need a slightly larger diesel for that one!
Some of the local Buggy racer boys and air aces were at the LHS when I stopped by. I had the MP Jet engine with me.
You should have seen the look on their faces when I took it out of the box ... most had never seen a diesel in the flesh before.
The "brushless revolution"? ... dull and expensive. Give me a little diesel with some soul any day.

I tried to explain it, but he called a second man over who asked what was on the head. Finally, the elderly manager came out and identified it immediately.
There's a term that I learned; "Betamaxed."
Betamaxed describes a product of superior technology or something to that effect, that has been forced out of the market by a more widely produced and advertised item.
A good example of a Betamaxed product is the Mac computer. Vastly superior to Windows, yet not marketed as heavily (until just recently) or used as widely.
Diesels are clearly superior to Glow engines, but they have been betamaxed out of the market because they are "weird"

I can help with the wieght. 55.5 grams/1.76 oz, complete with spinner nut.
I just did a couple of runs with an APC 7x4. 9960 to 9880 rpm. I usually run a 8x3 MA blue, at more sedate revs.
WOW! Just did another run with a 7x3 MA, hit 11,470 rpm. I didn't reallize this thing could spin so fast.

Today I got my new one from David Owen. Comes complete with an additional sheet of instructions from Mr. Owen. It really is nice to get both metal and plastic tanks with this, as well as the nice spinner nut. (I had to track down the spinner nut for the first one I bought direct from the Czech Republic. Was never able to find the clear tanks. )
Here's what you get! Includes mounting hardware and a pretty box. Here also is the MP Jet Classic next to an Irvine Mills 75, for size.

Hi, I have been trying to contact Dave Owen from New Zealand re purchase of a Mp Jets classic but cannot raise him by Email from here , can anyone in Aus tell me if he is around and perhaps ask if he could contact me via this forum.?
On another topic ,I began manufacture of Mills .75 Replicas here about twenty years ago and turned out many parts, but found it difficult to find time to finish completely more than 6 of them to a running state. I do however have many new parts, including gravity die cast crankcases for Mk 1 mills 1.3 and mk 2 .75. these are in heat treated L M 25 and are well finished. there are also many rough machined cylinders(Some with drilled ports) needle vaves and springs, carb castings and fuel bowls, backplates etc. if anyone wants a kit or spares please contact me- cheers Steve Hainsworth Wellington New Zealand

At the moment David does not have any more MP Jet Classics available (saw and spoke with him on Sunday 18th at the Veterans Gathering) but is waiting for the LAST batch that will be ever made to be delivered. If you contact me offline at [email protected] I will be able to facilitate an introduction for you.
As a further to, there are no plans to make more 1cc diesels much hyped about here as they (MP Jet) lose money on them; another rumour put to bed

CS is making some Mills .75 reproductions. This info came from the USA Toledo R/C Trade Show last month. CS quality, fits and finishes have really improved over the last couple of years. Should be good little engines. Jack

Stewart and Greg, I recently got a CS replica of the Mills .75 as did one of the guys I fly with. The CS Mills .75 is not near as nice as the MP Jet Classic I got from David Owen. The CS Mills .75 needs some TLC before running. The MP Jet is ready to go out of the box. David Owen is back home after some time abroad. He is tooling up for a run of 1958 Taipan 2.5 cc replica diesels. Plain bearing, easy to handle and powerful according to David. Check out the photo of an original Taipan 2.5 cc diesel and two crankcases for David's Taipan 2.5 cc diesel replicas. Jack

David and a few other suppliers managed to convince mpjet to do another run of the classic, David beleives these will probably be the last diesels they produce.

Rocket Bob and the rest of the group / I do have a new MP JET MP Jet .06 looks like the pix on the left above (Misfit sailorrS) , it is a replica # 269
it has the metal attached fuel bowl and a prop nut rather than spinner, the back plate has a pin that requires the prop must have a small
hole drilled it it came from Ed Carlson if my memory right it was $75 martin
