Cetane boosters
I am strongly considering becoming a dealer for a well-known American company which manufactures a Cetane Booster additive for diesel engines. I have seen the particular product mentioned specifically on a number of websites fromGreat BritainandNew Zealand, and people wanting to know where to get this product. My questionsare these: 1. how many of you out there in the real world run any kind of cetaneboost additive to your fuels?2. How many ofyou knew that such products were available and could help you get better performance out of your engines? and 3. How many of you would be interested in using products of this type but can't find them in yourareas of the diesel universe?

RE: Cetane boosters
In Australia, just about everyone uses either Iso Propyl Nitrate (IPN), or DIIx aka 2EHN, either Lab grade or the lower grade Amsoil Cetane Booster.
The latter is easily available, perfectly adequate for most applications, and I'd guess that was true worldwide. I suspect that you wouldn't make a lot of money selling Cetane Booster to model Diesel enthusiasts. Ray |
RE: Cetane boosters
AT A PERCENTAGE OF 1.5% that would make 8 gallons of diesel mix it come in 1 pt bottles about $8 will last most folks for years martin
that is 1 pt of booster |
RE: Cetane boosters
I too have found Amsoil Cetane Booster to work very well. At the moment, it seems to be the best available here in Canada. It's 100% octyl nitrate.

RE: Cetane boosters
The Amsoil cetane boost official name is "Di EthylHexyl nitrate", AKA "Octyl Nitrate", contents is 100% pure.
The same stuff is used in Wynn's Diesel treatment ; 7% concentration in Wynn's diesel+plus+treatment, and 35% concentration in Wynn's supreme diesel. I have used the 7% concentrate to replace half the kero content in my fuel for higher rpm test runs. It worked very well at rpm >13,000. |
