Uncontrolable tail drift with my Raptor G2?
It seems like the servo stays to one side and is very sensitive to movement that direction. Heli goes into a nasty spin which is very difficult to recover. Scared to even lift off as it is uncontrollable?

check 2 things for me.
1. gryo setting. Left switch should be NOR, right switch should be REV.
2. hold your entire tail rotor with your right hand and try to spin the main gear clockwise with your left hand. Is it possible? If yes then your tail gear is busted and replace it.

RE: Uncontrolable tail drift with my Raptor G2?
Hey Andy,
I have replaced the tail and it works but is not really controllable? I cannot seem to set the nuetral or center position? When I throttle up the tail servo goes to one side and then will not centre itself after causing the nasty spin?

It was but I tried switching it out and no difference/ I found a helicopter expert that I am going to get to look at it? I will post what he finds? I am almost thinking it might be the Gyro?

I was coming to the same conclusion myself but I don't know which came first the bad servo that screwed the servo or vice-versa.
The beginner Forum is really good for the raptor...lots of info and the guys helped me change out the main trans axil etc. I'lll send you the link.....a really LONG forum but it was worth reading.

Let me know what he finds on the gyro...thanks!

How do you set the revolution mixing to zero? The next question I have relates to AVCS mode? What is it? I think it is just activating the GYRO?

RE: Uncontrolable tail drift with my Raptor G2?
AVCS is ON on your gryo already. Set left switch to normal and right switch to REV.
Turn on ur TX and connect your heli. Put dip switch 12 ON and 10 and 11 OFF. Left dial is gryo sense, putting it positive will give you AVCS and negative will give you Rate mode. Right dial is mixing and I usually turn it OFF.

Hi Andy,
Well I am getting close now, thank you.
Is there any way to partially allow these settings or is it strictly on or off? What effect will each ( AVCS, Rate, Mixing ) have on the heli? Can you adjust them will powered up and hovering?
Thanks,
Raptor down soon to be Raptor air borne!

Andy it was just the dip swtich on the servo...I must have moved it when I was changing the blades.
Thanks a bunch.

Andy
I have stabilized it somewhat but when I start to lift off if I over correct the tail a little it goes into a svere tail spin/ It only happens to the right and even if I push it hard to the left in this case it will not stop? I am opening my own hobby store and I need to get my head around helicopters? I can do trucks and cars and planes but Heli's are going to be my nightmare?

I think the biggest problem you are having is helicopter set-up. This is something that you can learn
from an experienced heli flyier first hand. Most of our local hobby shops do not handle helicopters
because of the expense and the problems of setting up helicopters. Our local Hobbytown owner doesn't
know a thing about R/C vehicles. They handle such a assortment of merchandise that most of the people
they have on staff do not know much about flying vehicles. T
Personally, I think that a lot of people need to learn the fundamentals of helicotper set-up before
they really start to fly the heli. The problem is that most people get a heli and crash it before it is
flying correclty and then they repair it but they do not understand if it is repaired correctly.
How much heli experience do you have?

You hit the nail on the head! I am trying to learn proper set up before I lift off. I have a friend that is an expert as he has some huge Helis and is going to give me some set up lessons? I agree totally as it is ridiculous to try and fly one without knowing what everything does? Unfortunately like you say, there are not many people around with experience.

Patch,
I bought it the same time as my heli. I just need to figure out what all of the proper adjustments are?

I didn't have to do much adjustment on mine...I downloaded the T REX 450 and I am told that it is about the same as the Raptor.
What are you having trouble with?
If you really open a hobby store you need to stock the Walkera 36 parts....(same as the raptor) I will hook you up with my other Forum. We haven't had great luck with any of the suppliers.

RE: Uncontrolable tail drift with my Raptor G2?
Ok, do I feel kinda stupid! I spent the day with a real RC super star. I think he was national or world champion in 2000? Anyways he looked at it and in seconds figured out when I rebuilt the tail I turned the belt 90 degrees the other way! Therefore my tail was spinning backwards. Explains alot that's for sure. I switched the blades around and reversed the servo and gyro and it flys! To do it right I have to restore the blades and gyro to normal and reverse the belt to its original direction. You should see this guy fly!!! He has 10 or so helis, some gas and he said around 30 or so planes! I saw some of them and they are quite large. Nice to see a pro in action. Thank you for everyones help as it did teach me alot about heli's.

Raptor that is awesome!!!!!!!!!
Seriously you need to check out the other forum I sent you a link too. The guys would have fixed it for you in about a day. Don't feel stupid .....everyone has either flipped the belt or the blades or done something worthy of being ribbed a bit. I had the dip switch on the gyro wrong!!!
Glad you got it flying...I am a bit jealous that you got to go with a true flyer!
Catch you later.
