New Candidate Sub-Forum,
This sub-forum has been setup for Horrace Cain to use for his campaign running for Executive Vice President Candidate of the AMA. All member of RCU are free to ask Horrace any questions that they wish and I will not step as long as those questions are within the RCU Community Rules. This sub-forum is designed to be a place for direct communication between a candidate and the members of the AMA that will be voting in the election. Please feel free to ask anything that you wish, and also feel free to discuss matters with Horrace. However, if you do have a question please start a new thread to ask your question and do not hijack an ongoing thread with your question.
This is your chance to have a direct conduit to Horrace and ask him anything that you want to know about how he would perform in the position at the AMA if he is elected, so don't hesitate to use this forum to ask him your questions.

The first thread is called Duties and Responsibilities and I have commented there. Now be assured my first chore is to GET ON THAT BALLOT. The ballot for the total election will have only 3 names on it. Of all the individuals wanting on that ballot, only three (3) names will be selected by the members of the current in-force Executive Council. There are a number of current EC good friends and friends that may be soliciting this position. It will take a large number of aero-modelers writing their current Distict VPs to get their attention to placing Horrace Cain on the ballot of 3. Politics and friends are what they are, so only YOU the individual can make a difference. I ask you to write to your District VP and ask him to place Horrace Cain on the ballot for the position of AMA's Executive Council's Executive Vice President.
Now you ask WHY do I want to be there, and How am I qualified. I have been an avid aero-modeler since the late '50s, CD since 1963, Leader member since 1964, a Contest Coordinator, 2 terms D-VI Vice President (one term by WRITE-IN) and a significant number of other tasks relative to the promotion of modeling, FF, CL,, RC, and Club positions. I opened and maintained a Hobby Shop in Mt. Prospect, IL in the early '70s. I learned a lot about modelers. Sold out to another store (Venture Hobbies) when I decided that I was not going to get a furlough from UAL.
Don't forget to take a look at www.jetero.com to check out a club flying field that I financed when I retired from UAL 18 years ago. I currently belong to 3 RC Clubs and visit others for events. I still fly some CL in my backyard. There is more in the other thread., but ONLY YOU can get your DVPs to vote for HC to be on that ballot. Thank YOU!
Then we will move forward to get that ballot returned with the proper name selected.

First off, Thank you for setting this up.
Would it be possible for you to extend an invitation to the other candidates and offer "Equal time" so to speak? The AMA's own forum is no longer available and the Blog format they currently have is not very appealing.

We make this same offer to any candidate who is running for any office in the AMA. All they need to do is contact me and I will get them setup. I feel that anybody running for an AMA office deserves to have an open forum to talk to the people that will be casting votes for the office they are seeking.

Therefore I request that anyone that wishes for aeromodeling as we know it now, petition to the AMA Staff and elected officials to get together and come to terms. As an aviator for 41 years, 13 military and 28 civil airline, AMA will never win over FAA. Congress will side on the FAA's position. That is, in my mind, a sure thing.
For any of you that are reading this, my thoughts are that we modelers come down hard on the Executive Council to forget this toy-drone stuff and save real aero-modeling, at least for the current time until some real issues are settled.
AMA Pres. Bob Brown, in the August 2014 issue gave you a clue. While he did not say anything against this invasion of ...copters and such, he did leave one big clue in the next-to-last paragraph right hand column, page 6. You can darn well know that the people making all these new toys, those that are showing them and making YOU want those new toys will not be on the side of our normal model AIRPLANE facilities. If you ignore my warning, I do hope you are right, but I am not betting on such.

CHANGE: AMA first said 11-04 to be postmarked. Then Nov. 07 for counting. Now it is simply Nov. 07 postmark with counting date not specified, but before Thanksgiving. The wheel does ROLL AND ROLL
I just yesterday went and early voted for the real world voting. Please get your AMA vote in the mail if not already done. You then assist in two things:
#1. You make a statement for either a change, or that you are satisfied with the current administration.
#2. Your vote may well be the one vote that makes things go YOUR WAY! Is that not the reason for voting? DO IT!
