Default MVVS .21 got a pair, what plane?

I got these two MVVS .21 some years back when me and a buddy were going to do combat, also got the pica corsair, fw 190 and a stang. Well the whole combat thing is pretty much a memory and I have these two brand new motors..

Any suggestions on a pylon plane I could use them for, not to compete with (not sure if there is a class for this size), just something to play around with and go fast.. Any ideas?

Thanks
Jimbo

OK the way I see it, you have 3 options.

1. Pond racer. I know no kit available but imagine a 50" span version!!!

2. Look up Mantney models web site. He has a couple QM kits that with that engine would hit 130

3. Send one engine to me and I will build a couple of airplanes and send one to you LOL.

I know they were pretty hot little motors back in the day, how do they compare today? I like option 2, gonna go have a look right now.. Not saying no to any of the other options just yet...lol

QM back in the day ran .15 engines with strait pipes. That little MVVS with the pipe will weigh just a tad more but will be more power as well. With todays radio equipment you should be able to build a QM kit that would be the same weight but with 10-15% more power. And the price of the kits is very reasonable.

I'd build a 28" span delta for it and go to the effort of cowling the engine. I'd also run it open exhaust.

That A1 (2nd pic) sure is sexy, was looking at it last night.. All the Q500 planes i am finding are for a 40, are there any smaller kits out there? I could always scale one down if need be...

Mantney is the only outfit I know of that does the QM ( .15 ) size race planes. You will find some ARF race type airplanes out there but Mantney kits are the real deal. They are designed for all out pylon. What that means is that they are fast, groove through the turns and are built to take the stresses of flying at high speeds. Once in a great while you will find the random QM kit on Ebay but thats about it. Once I get some of my projects that I have already started finished, I plan to get the Q40 A1 and throw one of my Rossi .45s in it

I have to say, $100.00 buck shipped is a pretty good price for it..

Should be no issues getting that speed. Keep it light, Hitec makes some good mini metal geared servos that are more then enough power for that airplane and are only about 20.00 each. You can get by with a 350mah battery. The big peice of the puzzle will be the prop. You may have to try a few with the key being the prop that will allow the engine to unload to the RPM that puts it into the sweet spot in the power curve.

Awesome, thanks a bunch.. Already have a munch of the servos you are talking about, bought them when I was gonna do the combat thing, still brand new! I will keep you posted when I get ready to build it..

Maybe I'm the one that cannot read what is written. What is the link or the source for those two small racers pictured above?

The reason for the low cost is that it is a short kit: glass fuselage, foam wing cores, and plans only. You provide the rest of the materials. Which is not a big deal, just pointing this out.

The AJ-2 is indeed a very sexy model.

Mustang, no I was not joking. I do a fair amount of building and repairing for local guys, mostly giant scale IMAC aircraft. But these little guys are small enough that shipping one would not be an issue. Building two and keeping one as payment seems like a good way to get a new airplane to me.

Well tell me what you have in mind.. I have two motors with the silencersdon't need both, not competing, just a plane to screw around with... I know that MVVS doesn't make these motors anymore, but will still make parts, I also have a pack of head shims as well...
