Default Need more Speed!

I have my Patriot dialed with the Jett-50 and 9x8 APC- Great combo but I need more speed...

I bought a couple of Pylon props. but they are super thin-

Other than a 9x9 (which is next) what would you guys recommend?

Tha Patriot even with the 9x8 takes off in about 150' so I am not concerned with space- someone said on here awhile back that a 9x8 would not be enough thrust for a Patriot= Wrong, climbs like a missile-

I only care about the high speed passes- what an 8x12 or something?

Thanks for readin'

As long as the rpm and the thrust are fine.....go ahead, try the 8x12 or higher

Won't work....

Too much pitch... difference between pitch speed and airspeed will be too big, because your Patriot is just too draggy to reach the speeds your 12" pitch prop demands...

Your prop will be (nearly) stalled all the time (certainly on the ground)... and therefor terrible ineffective...

All this is if you even managed to get the plane off the ground...

Default well-

I just threw that out there, I have never seen an 8x12

What do you recommend Rudeboy?

I think I have an 8.75x8 (?)

I am not in a position to recommend you anything Razor...

I have neither a Patriot, nor a Jett 50 engine...

I just know that an 8x12 won't work on a plane like the Patriot...

Hell, even on the Magnum, which is a good deal sleeker and/or smaller, something more modest like an 8x10 doesn't even work...

But I think you're in the ball park with your 8.75x8 though.
The patriot is a sport plane after all, and was not really designed for extreme speeds, was it? So a little more diameter to get a little more thrust to overcome a little more drag might be the right way to go...

Just for the 'ell of it, throw on an apc 10x7.

This prop seems to be the best prop to me, on my kysosho Spitfire, with the same engine.

I've tried the smaller diameter / higher pitch racing props, but the plain ole boring 10x7 seems to be the fastest.

Default Patriot GO-FAST

Razor,
Your statement; :I have my Patriot dialed with the Jett-50 and 9x8 APC- Great combo but I need more speed... "

Is correct in that it's a great combo thats pretty well dialed in!
Meaning You're not going to get a large increases by changing the prop. You could trade off some acceleration for a little more speed via an 8.5X9or10 (9X9 or 9X10 cutdown)

To get significantly more speed, You're going to have to have more power. Here are three steps up in power, I'm putting step 3 in mine.
1) YS 60 FR + 10%
2) Rossi 81 DF +25%
3) Jett FIRE 90 +35%

EW- You always have a bead on things!

I might try the 8.75x8/9 just because I have it, but I am pretty happy with the 9x8-

That Rossi-81DF would be pretty interesting!

Step 4:

OS-91VRDF
