Default What is prop load?

Hi guys,

Iread about this term in many of the posts here but i cant figure out what this means?

Can someone help?

I's an amount of power required to turn a prop of a given diameter and pitch at a selected rpm.

SO what does it mean when i hear people say it takes a while for the prop to load/unload ?

Well there's that too. When a engine is turning a prop "statically" (plane not moving), the engine/prop is loaded down, hence not up to rpm that it would have at top speed in flight.

There are exceptions to this, but this works for 95% of RC planes.
