Hello Gordon,
wow, that looks terrific!

what kind of spinner is that? What brand? Does it have the same length as the original?

Cheers,

Martin

Default RE: Nemesis NXT electro by air-c-race.de

Have visited Michael this week as I was in the neighborhood for work anyway, and have seen the latest version of the Nemesis NXT-E
He's working on a Nitro model as well in his workshop.
I've ordered 1 and hope to get it the week after next, will first bring him my NIB Picco P80 DF so he can mill me a motormount....that should save me a lot of hassle.........
I've also seen that the latest version solves the problem with the retracts; they are now more towards the leading edge and the struts look great.
Also the servo's he recommends are nice ones: MKS DS6125 http://www.mks-servo.com.tw/goods.php?goods_id=DS6125
I'll get a MACS 1190 pipe and 2 fuel tanks coupled and adjustable needle.
All in all that should be enough for some respectable speed and flying time; we'll see where this set up takes the plane.

As soon as I get the plane I'll make some pics and post them here.

Sorry guys, mine will have to wait a bit, too.

I had planned to finish it in early summer this year.
But then a lot of problems arose. One is the spinner - I just can't see it turning 20.000 rpm and more without destroying itself or the whole airplane for that matter. That setup with a center-bolt in a laminated spinner just isn't very trustworthy to me.
Then the landing gear. It took ages to be delivered. And now there is the problem with installation: you have to install it at an angle in order to get the wheels underneath the leading edge. Now that means that it will be sticking out in the rear seat - by some quarter inch or so. Very nasty - not my idea of a slick speed plane. Kinda threw me off...

And then there is a new kid on the block that I had ordered and knew would come in September. That's why I wanted to do the Nemesis first in early summer.
Now that baby needs all my attention: [img][/img]
Awesome f-86 paint scheme!! I'm a little partial to the Canadian Goldenhawks.LOL

Hi, this is a nice looking kit. Which kit ( make ) is it? Where did you ordered it from?

Let us know how it flies.

Cheers

The kit is the Nemesis NXT-E made by www.air-c-race.de
As soon as I've received it I'll start postings pics and updates on the build and flying.
However, this could take a while since the plane and servo's are pretty expensive, and I also want to take my time to do it all right the first time around.
It's not a plane where one can afford mistakes....not with the speeds it'll be reaching

Edwin,
Keep us posted, I would love to follow this build for I'm looking at this beautiful kit too.
The fullscale Nemisis has a fairly high stalling speed if one watch especially the take offs, Im keen to see how this very nice looking kit flies.

Enjoy your build!!

Sent my engine to Michael today for him to make the engine mounts and then send everything back to me for completion.
I'll finish the plane myself, atleast 50% of the fun to make it all just the way I want it

Hello Gordon,
looking good!
can you tell me about the spinner? Will you use it? does ist work? Does it have a central bolt, or how is it attached to the back plate?

Those are very good questions. When you have a large spinner like that you have on the Nemesis, an average quality spinner would be adequate for a big electric motor turning moderate rpm's. However. when tuning 23,000 rpm along with the power pulses of a powerful glow engine you need to have a robust, well balanced spinner. I hope that's what you have.

Here in the states, I've come to the conclusion (the hard way) that the only spinner worth having for extreme applications is the Tru-Turn spinner.

Hi there,

According to Michael they have tested the old fibre glas spinner with 30 K RPM without issues...now the new one is made of carbon...So I guess it will be okay....will test run the engine with the spinner and post the results....

Btw is anyone out here having a source for 10x10 carbon prop ?

Guys, I am back on track. Still waiting for the delivery of the turbine for the Sabre, so I thought I might as well give the NXT another chance.
Installed the landing gear today. How did you guys do it?
I had to cut out the front seat and fashion another one to sit lower in the wing. A slanted piece in the back to raise the seat here and bring the gear to stick straight down... See pictures...

the space underneath the front seat of the landing gear I filled up with epoxy that Ithickened with cotton powder...

Doesn't look too pretty but what can you do? gotta be done - gotta move forward...

BTW: I did have a first flight, before I did the paint job... Unfortunately I crashed it a bit on landing. I was too fast and there must have been a rabbit hole. It toppled over on touch down. ripped the elevator out and damaged it. Broke the rudder off, too...
Michael Siek (of air-c-race) sent me a new elevator and rudder ultra fast! It happened on Saturday and on the Tuesday I had the new parts. That was brilliant service. This and a new carbon spinner. That one now turns tru. (Although Ihad also ordered a tru-turn Spinner. so now I have two tru ones... ;-) )
Here's a log of the first flight. It is in German. But this is what it shows:
Black: rpm (max was 11,518)
Red: Speed in km/h max was 238.2 km/h´. That's 148 MPH! Not bad for a first try with only 6S. Wait until Igo 10S!
Green: total mAh capacity used. Only 1270mAh total. And Ihave 5000 capacity! It shows that I should have flown around a bit more, make a couple more approaches to get the speed down and get used to it. It is very fast and does not bleed of the speed very well! So do make some attemps before you commit.

Setup:
6S5000 Lipos
12X13 APC

238 km/h...that seems to be a number !...was it in a dive or level flight ? also for landing...did you come in fast because of possible stall ? how far are the wheels for the CG...i am asking that question because I have a plane that was jumping like a rabbit at every landing...I put the retracts closer to the CG and now I can land this plane at almost every speed I want without problems !

Yes, that was in a dive. I shall try it in level flight when Ifly next...

As for the landing: Yes, that was due to speed. We do have a long field but the thing just floats and floats and floats, not having bled of muc speed by the end of the field. I was nervous and thought I might not have engough power left to go around... Well that was a vast misjudgement, given the first chart (above). Also I didn't do the stall at altitude to find out just how slow you can make it.. Shall be better prepared (mentally) next time and do all the preflight checks (for my mind)....

Landing gear: the axles of the wheels are right beneath the leading edge. Iwouldn't dare to move them back! It will certainly topple over - what with the small wheels and our grass field.. If you land on concrete that might be a different thing. However the wheels are still way too soft.
Ihave ordered new, different legs from Behotec. They are straight ones that will take 65mm-wheels. Should fit nicely into the wing centre section... I will just position them with the axles pointing inwards and that way the wheels should disappear completely in the fueslage/wing...

here's a chart that shows that maiden flight with speed agains altitude. Shows the dives...
