Default Whiplash Maiden..Wouaaaaahh!!!

Guys,

Today was simply the most adrenaline pumping day of the summer.
My whiplash is airborne!! first let me tell you something, That
thing is almost indestructible!! My first 2 hand laugh were
total catastrophs!! On the first attempt I forgot to compensate
the torque of the 50 SX running at 16K RPM...The plane rolled
to the left and hit the ground very badly... I said to myself:
"Oh well, Its already game over..Damn.." But To my astonishment,
the plane was still intact with nothing broken..After a close
inspection who lasted a few minutes I decided to retry. The
second laugh were a little better but not enough to make it..
The plane again rolled to the left and hit the ground like a
boomerang..Another close inspection revealed nothing!!

I said to myself: "Damn! this is incredible".

On the third attempt I increased the throw a little
to give me a better chance and it worked!! It was
airborne! On the first minute of the flight I was very
nervous trying to trim that thing But once trimmed I was shocked by
the result: That thing fly like its on rails!! Its
so solid! My first high speed dive were so fast that
I said to myself: "If something goes bad we all gonna
die" LOL.... Rolls are so fast you can't count ..This
thing is simply rock solid and fast . My first landind
was off the field by 30 feets. The whiplash glide very well but
it drop speed fairly fast so you must get some altitude in
order to make it to the field. My second one was right in
the center , great fun. I can't wait to try it
again. Thanks to ACM for the great product and support.
With the whiplash X on sales at $169.00 I thing I gonna buy
another one just in case I lost it. I love the adrenaline
that thing is giving me. I have recorded a small video of
my first laught in low resolution. Click on the link
below to see it and help me to analyze what went wrong.

Thanks guys.

Rick, Please take in consideration that new name
for the whiplash: ExtremeAssWhiper

LOL....

Thanks

No airspeed... not enough throw on the elevons... perhaps CG located too far forward... or a combination of these...

On mine with a OS .46 I have to throw it as hard as I can straight to get it to keep from falling out of the sky on launch.

mine hasn't flown yet, I tried once but I was running an 8x8 and was only getting about 14,000 rpm or 15,000 maybe. It wasn't enough at our altitude, didn't go well, kinda wallowed in the air and then hit the ground nose first. It broke the end of the enginemount off so I had to repair that. But, now I have a pipe and header on it, it's powered with a West50 VI so I should have about 19,000 rpm with the 8x8 next time, that should make a huge difference

Hand Launching is Tough! We fly SPADS there fun and also Almost indistrucable! I used to launch over head! Try to hold the Radio Throttle up concentrate then trow! Yea right! What works really well try it some time! Hold the plane from the top of the Fusalage! Throttle up Face the wind and Just step forward and place it on the wind! It is close to the ground if somthing goes wrong it usally will lansd on it's belly but your in ground afffect fly out level and then climb works AWSOME! Not to mention looking very good as well! Try It. Let us know how you make out! No fuel in your face either![sm=lol.gif]

only problem is there's nothing on a whiplash to hold ontop. Except a really hot pipe, but I'd rather not do that either LOL!!!!

I saw a pic somewhere here on rcu of someone who had a rear exhaust engine on his whip... he put some isolation on the pipe and it made a real nice handle... might be worth a shot...

The Whiplash unlike the Diamond Dust and other planes has a center rear section that is especially for holding the airplane to launch by hand.

Hold the whiplash by the "tail", throttle up, and let go, admittedly it takes some practice.. but it works fine.
You can also put a wrap of silicone around the pipe on a rear exhaust system and make a handle that doesn't get hot... I don't know where to get a sheet of silicone except at McMaster Carr Supply www.mcmastercarr.com
