jett 50 muffler
i just got a new jett 50 and broke it in today with the supplied aluminum muffler gasket, it was spitting fuel out it. I am going to use hi temp form a gasket but can i get rid of the gasket when i add the sealant?
the engine is in a dc f-20 and holy cow what 17,000 rpm's sounds like!

I would draw file the mating faces to ensure they are flat, chalk the file so the alloy does not ball up and gall the face - alloy is a very soft material, and when using fine files it has a tendency to roll or ball up.
I do this on all my JETT engines, and any other engine for that matter ....... no issues

Especially on the muffler
If you see raw fuel on the muffler or carb body, its coming from the front bearing. Nothing to be concerned about, that is very normal.
If you find you have an exhuast leak... make sure you have the muffler clean and the surfaces clean. If they get buggered up then they will leak, but they will leak exhaust and that is easier to see. Sometimes I have used two gaskets on older engines.
Also... just of note after you run the engine, give it a few minutes to cool off, and check the muffler and cyclinder head bolts. Worth while if it is a new engine.
