guys, check out the photos,
I was looking to get a little more power from my 61FX, and I know about the Jet Mufflers, but I have this here AX 46 Pipe, and thought I could just cut it and weld the end up and weld on a header just like the stock OS muffler (yes I can do the Mill work)

what you think

BTW, the fabricating is 60% the fun !!

a little more info here,

the OD of the AX T-pipe is only about 1/2mm smaller than the OD of the 61FX muffler

You have nothing to lose by trying it. Our hobby is all about trying something different to see if it works.
Not all feel this way. They should, but don't.

Why not just buy the header and use the pipe so it will work.

I can tell you yo will gain some over the stock muffler but not tuned pipe or Jett muffler gains. think of this as a Tower muffler. It will have more muffler volume.

You may want to use some silicon tubing on it first to adjust the length before you weld it up for good.  I personally don't like mufflers that stick in front of the cyl. because they can wreck the bolt holes in the exh casting boss.  I have a lot of Supertigers like that from swapmeets.  I don't like supporting pipes at the back either, so, ya, maybe

thanks guys,, yes, the Jett Muffler has a bit larger OD and a lot more R&D, so I can see the Jett Muffler would produce a bet more power

You won't know until you try it.  Try and make things reversable in case things don't work out.  Pipes are odd things to figure out.  Smaller outlets and volumes and lengths have to be tried.  Paper ideas only go so far.
