e-200 pylon racer - 3100 kv
Hello Everyone,
I took a 3100 kv engine (e-sky) from a helicopter and a 25a esc and mount it on a Quickie 200 with an APC 4.75x4.75......its great.
Anyhow Im having problems with the esc overheating,,,,,,is this prop too much for this engine (Or is it too small?)
Sorry for the basic question but Im fairly new to electric set ups....Ive flown pylon for long time but never electrics.

Insufficient data. I would guess you are using a 3s pack? If so my first guess is that with a 3100kV motor you could be pulling about 30 amps. If so you need to reduce prop load.
If you are now to electrics I would think you don't have a power meter.
Check out eCalc online.. put in the right motor and battery data and it will give you a good idea what is going on.
And of course make sure the controller gets enough cooling air.

Exactly Im using a 3s batteriy 35-70c
Which prop might take me to the propper Amp pulling in order to be able to use this 25A speed controller?

I don't know all the specs of that motor, so it is difficult for me to answer. If you cannot measure the current draw, then you might be guessing too. If you can find all the specifications for that motor, then eCalc can give you a good idea of the numbers.
