Doddger bash
I put this Doddger fuse together years and years ago, with the tail moment lengthened about an inch. The front end is built around this what I believe is slightly uncommon ST X-45 FIRE. As I understand it this engine is at its best in the upper teens. It has a substantial carb bore for a .45, it is meant to spin. I ran it a bit maybe 25 years ago in a Hot Kanary, but pulled it out and dropped in a then fairly new Picco .40. Bit I recall it was a strong bugger.
Time to give it something to do, so out it comes into the active project pile. I am going to figure out if I can fit electric taildragger retracts in a 10" chord MH-43 wing airfoil, if not look for another section, but not the Doddger wing in any case. It will have no real purpose other than be a ballistic platform for the ST that deserves to get out and play. I'll probably set it up for 9-8 or 9-9 APC sport props on the bench and go with that. It should have a little jet canopy but the pipe gets in the way. With the thinner airfoil I can fit a Tettra 11oz bladder tank under the wing. Might not go that big but we'll see.
..plus some engine porn that I took at the same time. Top engine is the bottom engine (OPS .45 DF) with carb replaced with 10mm venturi and speed spinner assembly. I Love Jets posted ages ago that for RC speed this engine should be run at 26,500rpm. Time to get some QM props.
