I am just about to go off the deep end with browsers (FF and Chrome) crashing incessantly on Outlook webmail, and RCU. I don't spend much time on the 'net at home doing anything else so this is a biggie.
It primarily happens when I fumble a keystroke or hit a bunch of backspaces, almost like if the keyboard buffer is full the browser detonates. There's all kinds of forum traffic about this problem.. no firm answers and a boatload of BS. I am posting quick now because this is about the time it will happen..

I tried a clean boot and will wait to see what happens next.. so far I haven't been able to force it by typing like a spaz.
Oh there it goes.. just crashed in Outlook. No fanfare, Chrome just closes "poof" now, without even a pop-up that says it stopped working. Firefox does it too. Agggghhhhh...

Lots of test flights today.. test flying friends/neighbors Sonicmodell B-17 and another's Easy Star. Now I get to fly something of my own finally, hooray! Taking out the Screamin Toucan for some noisy fast, and compact fun.

Just walked in the door, the Suburban is still full of airplane stuff. As soon as the Demon got to the pit table the guys were all over it. Fortunately, there weren't many people at the field today. Questions answered, I fueled it up. It started instantly and ran well with a bit of bearing noise. The low-speed mixture needed leaning and soon it was running great. Full throttle was only 17300rpm, so the header is still a bit long. I shut it down and refueled it and about the time I was done, I realized I was fresh out of excuses not to fly it. The GPS came up on the TX, so I knew it was working. Holding it by the trailing edge between the elevons, I gave it full throttle and a very gentle shove at about a 20 degree up-angle. The nose dropped a bit as it gained speed (rapidly) and we were off and running in a slight left turn. A few clicks of aileron and elevator trim later, it was on rails. I didn't do anything but steer it around at part-throttle for half a minute or so. Once I realized it wasn't doing anything weird or nasty, I firewalled it and left it there. I just flew an oval around the field, not doing much other than a few rolls. After about 5 minutes I was getting pretty comfortable so I decided to try a landing approach. On the first try, it came to a stop about 10 feet from where I wanted. Just then I decide I had a KEEPER. It isn't the slightest bit twitchy, nor is it at all sluggish. Just right, in fact. Total "Point and shoot" airplane. I intended to do the maiden with a 9-6 prop, but I forgot to change it. An 8-8 was on it for the maiden. Sure couldn't tell from the way it accelerated away from my hand. Highest speed recorded on the first flight was 125mph. Not bad considering that it isn't even on the pipe. The second and final flight of the day was an hour or two later, as I was messing with the Twin Mustang's twin 32SX's. Thirty seconds into the second flight, it felt as though I'd been flying the Demon all season. My comfort level was incredibly high and I was having a ball carving up the sky, doing split-s reversals at each end of low-passes, giant loops and just generally having a great time. That 4oz. tank isn't big enough! Right after I throttled back on the downwind, it ran out of fuel. When I realized the fire had gone out, I just cut the pattern short, headed for the runway and landed about 40 or 50 feet short of the center of the 300 foot grass strip alongside the runway. Total no-brainer. This airplane is FUN to fly!!! Nothing was difficult, and if it's got any bad habits, I couldn't find them. Better get that "bulk pack" here soon, because 2 guys want them already. Looks like we may cook-up an electric version as well. I can't thank you guys enough for introducing me to this brilliant little airplane. This summer will be a lot more fun because of it. By the way, I also successfully maidened the Twin Mustang. Both OS's behaved nicely and it flew very nicely. Altogether, a great day at the field.

Well, that's about the best news I heard all day, and it's been a pretty darn good day around here too. Well done Mike, so glad you like it. Get that engine on step and then see if anyone has seen an OS.32 move that quick before. Your model is light, hence the easy launch. I think your color scheme must have worked, it jumps out of the screen well enough!
It's a no brainer that there needs to be an electric version, and before you dive into it let's talk about the design changes I have in mind already. And btw the .25 version at 26" span feels like a great size for a lower cost setup with 3s 2200 or so as baseline.
I would genuinely appreciate any input as to how the motor mount area should be designed for a variety of motor setups. I am moving spars and opening up the battery bay on the new version.

As for the Cox Conquest, some guys around here were running a similar plane with a 42" span with better course times using the .15s. Maybe something to try before building a new plane. I would think it should be on the light side.

I have two Ron Young Conquests and I'm stoked to put one on a small Demon. I'll look at cutting some rev 2 prototypes soon.

This was mine (sniff.. stupid ultralight!) with a large case and brutally heavy OPS .15 RCA "Speed",open pipe, and Graupner 6x5.5 prop. About 24k in the air, pretty quick.
500-600w electric in this would scoot.

Awesome flight report RCGuy...!
My first delta of this sort gave me such a thrill with the OS.32 and pipe that I just couldn't stop smiling..for about a year or so.
I'll bet your Demon impressed quite a few local flyers with how such a simple, easy to tote plane can be so much fun.

Just got off the phone with one of my flying buddies and he's offered to take video of my Demon next weekend in exchange for some stick-time on it. That gives me until then to get it on the pipe and screaming it's little guts out for me. I really think 140+ is within reach. If that Demon bulk-pack happened to include a .15 Demon, I wouldn't be the slightest bit upset...

My reaction was very similar to yours, CP. Thanks for your idea about the reinforced "beavertail" between the elevons to use as a grip for launching. It WORKS. And yes, the guys were very impressed at how a rather pedestrian setup could produce such startling results. Just a sport engine with a pipe. Nothing fancy, easy to build and set up. I couldn't ask for any more than that. Do you think it would be worth trying an 8-8 cut down to 7-8? I've got 6 or 8 8-8's on hand to play with and my Demon so far shows no appetite for props when landing.

If you trim the exhaust for less prop [than 8 x 8] and you don't like the results, you can always place the last slice of pipe back inside the silicone coupler. IIRC, it has been tried before by others with diminishing returns.
I've had a Webra .50 deliver good results with a 7.4 x 8, and a Nelson FAI .40 with a 7 x 7 [cut to less than 7 inches..!]
These two examples use high timing and big venturis.
I've never wanted to raise the timing of my one and only OS .32 to see what it's upside potential was. Too nice of an engine for what it does so well already.
If you own a hand full of .32s...well, that's a different story then.........

I've been toying with the idea of increasing the exhaust duration of a 32SX. Normally, the plated sleeve would stop me, as peeling of the plating is the likely result. However, two of my .32's are ringed, with steel sleeves. With no plating to peel, there's no reason not to try. Replacement sleeves are still available in case I screw it up or it just doesn't work out. Minimum "pipe timing" is 180 degrees, right? Where should I start?
