I have seen a picture of the Jett .030. As you would expect, it was beautiful!

Gosh, I'm sitting here with this new .50 LX in my hand and I still can't believe how beautiful it is. Even after flying my .25 BSE earlier today. These engines just excite me.

By the way, the new .50 is currently bolted into the freshly completed motor mount for a new Demon, complete with spinner ring modified to fit the Jett spinner. I'm on my way...

No rush, I've got a couple of long lead items. Not the least of which is better glasses which won't happen until February or so. I need to be able to see this thing!

Ahhh I remember these pics now. Im sure Dub still has the mold we should all sign a petition for a run of 250 units with tuned pipe. Once word gets out they will sell out within a years time.
Micro size skaahreamers whistling by on lil tuned pipes at 120mph
Elite Quickie 100 class.

Of course these days could CNC the case.

Oh yeah, that's it. What a beauty! Check out the rear intake. I still want to see the pipe.

Things work out and I'm in for one. Imagine a mini-Sykosis with one of these gems.

And it's not until I look at the picture that I realize that I forgot to sand the carbon spars. Doh!

No biggie, I've done worse. I went back over things, a little sanding and a little heavier glue. I'm ready to move on.
Right now I'm trying to decide how much to sheet it. I like the ones with tapered LE sheeting.

Framing the Demon is delightful!

I never do, and they stick like snot to the ribs with thin CA whisked into the joint. These are pultruded, doubt there is any release on the surface.

Not sanding the spars won't hurt much, if at all. I find thin CA to be pretty tenacious for these.

I’d say look at sheeting from high point to high point if you want to mod/stiffen it up a bit. 1/16" balsa is good , just not too light and use A or AB if you can.

Then fit shear webs between the upper and lower sheeting. Even 3/32” medium, medium hard and grain the wrong way (spanwise) makes a huge difference. Or be diligent and go vertical grain. But just add shear webs. You will love the effort:benefit ratio. Twist it before and after.

The spar jig-er-ma-doodles are great! And you can pluck it off the stands, turn it over and plunk it back in!

I'm definitely planning on vertical shear webs.

Thanksgiving preparations and trip are going to get in the way but it's started.

Having built my own fixture I have to say the spar jig is an excellent idea.

I may have laid out the framework but now it looks like more delays on my very slow SD project.

I tried to get started but now I'm told it's time for surgery on a depilating heel spur, probably happen in the next couple of weeks. I won't even be able to get into the workshop soon so it looks like springtime or later for my Demon.

Oh well, I'll be really fast next year.

Oh yeah, you can fly all year down there, forgot. Flying season pretty much done, the odd nice afternoon here and there..

Heel sounds painful! I am on week 10 recovering from having bone spurs carved out of my cervical spine and 4 vertebrae fused,. but I don't have to walk on my head..

I knew you had been laid up too. LOL, don't have to walk on your head! I'm trying to figure out how to get around post-op with a boot on the right foot and maybe walking on my head is the answer. But I'll take a heel spur to what you had.

Yep, flying season is still in full swing down here. But it'll actually drop into the 30's this weekend so it'll be our first chilly flying. Yeah, 30's chilly, we're wimps down here when it comes to cold.

Texans are a pretty rugged, my Dad was one.

Best fun I ever had in Texas was watching Texans drive in snow when we went down for Christmas one year.

I hate flying in 30's temps too.. I lost the ambition to be a year rounder sometime (decades?) ago. You'll not likely see another video of me flying on New Year's day, I did that one with the .010 model only because I was anxious to fly the .010, and someone was talking about flying in the New Year. I quickly remembered why I don't fly in snow.

In case anyone needs a Demon engine, I've got a YS .45 FISE w/tuned pipe and header for sale in the classifieds. I managed to adapt an 11mm bore OS heli carb to my Nelson .40 S/S, so I don't need the YS anymore.
