Faster Sig Wonder speed?
Hi. I'm about to maiden a Sig Wonder with an OS .25 FX motor. I'm hoping for a fast plane, but I'm "wondering" how fast I can get this thing to go.
Anyone know how fast these can go?

Just make sure you have the CG correct or you will be chasing it all over the Sky!
My last Wonder had a 9x7 APC...Very Quick and Agile.
Also it had dual rudders 1/2" behind aft limit. WOW what a handfull and incredible snaps!
Not RIP but sold it to build a Twin again.

I'm using an 8x6 prop (forgot the brand's name). I tried to get an APC 8x6 on it, but I'm using a TruTrun spinner and the APC prop is too thick for the spinner (can't get the spinner to touch the back plate). I may try to grind away some of the spinner to make the APC fit, but thought I'd try this other prop first.

If you need to go faster get a mouse can combat muffler here http://www.airscharnell.com/
I am running an 8-6 APC with this combo and the engine turns over 18,000. I think you will be happy with your combo. Very user friendly.

RE: Faster Sig Wonder speed?
Hi guys, I'm busy with the covering at the moment, will post pic's when it's complete.
I've got a Super Tigre .25 up front driving a 9.5X6 Bolly prop. I'm using mini servos on the control surfaces and a standard servo on the throttle.

I bought one used an have no papers with it. Wondering if you or someone could tell me where the CG is supposed to be on this little hot rod. It does fly good with a .15 magnum, but I do hafta chase it all over the sky as you said.

8" diameter? I already have that issue covered. Apart from the 9.5X6, I have a 9.5X5 & 8X6. By moving the radio gear around I have got the Wonder to balance @ 2 3/8" from the LE. I shortened the nos by a 1/2". Mod's that I got from another thread. Hopefully it works for me as well as it did for others. [8D]

RE: Faster Sig Wonder speed?
10 flight's later we have a big smile factor. Air has been bumpy and the Super Tigre needed some tuning, but with lots of exponential and some down elevator trim it flies well.
Not as fast as I expected but plenty fast enough for me. Found that the 8X6 prop works best, the others are just too much prop for that old engine.
As for the rudders Bob, as far as I'm concerned for the extra weight they are not worth it, but that is just my opinion. Get the CG right and it's a BLAST.

RE: Faster Sig Wonder speed?
Perhaps more deflection or bigger rudders would be more effective. Maybe I'll try more deflection.
Will let you know how it goes.

RE: Faster Sig Wonder speed?
Here is my current Wonder. This is number 2. I have an OS LA.15 on this one with an 8x3 MA combat prop. Mini servos, receiver and battery, low weight all equal good spirited performance. The Wonder is not really designed as a "speed plane" but more of sport plane. You need something with a much thinner airfoil if you want to hit tripple digit speeds--IMHO. The Wonder is great for zipping around at low altitude doing upright and inverted eights about 3 feet off the deck. My previous Wonder had full size gear and an OS .25. Flew about the same.
