Default 60 size Shriker!!

I picked this up at an estate sale.
Its a 60-size Shriker! The wingspan is 58", the motor is an OS .61.
Is was all ready to go - radio and all!
I paid $50 for it!!!!
I need to replace the battery but other than that it's ready for flight!
It has elevators on the main wing as well as the center rear elevator.
It also has operational rudders and steerable nose wheel.
I originally bought it just for the engine but after looking it over I have decided to at least fly it and see if I like it.
I read that a 60 size shriker was never produced so this guy must have up-sized some plans!
I don't know why he didn't mount the motor the other way which would have looked better without that muffler sticking up like that.
It is very clean and dry so I don't know if it was ever flown. It has a ton of led weights glued under the nose so he did balance it.
I'm not sure what to expect when I fly it. I have flown a big foam delta wing which I made from a 45" swept airplane wing (see past posts)
The more I look at it the more I like it!
Next weekend I will testrun the motor and if that goes well I will maiden it.

Great buy the motor is well worth $50.00. The Conquest 4 channel radio is 15-20 years old that transmitter should have batteries cycled and or replaced. I think the builder scaled up .40 size plans to make this one. The Radio is 4 channel I thought the "elevators in the wing were flaps. Are they hooked up to the elevator servo? Ifo so they would work more like flaperons.

I would buy a Dave Brown 4-strole motor mount for it and move the motor forward and remove the lead. Light planes fly better. Also you could rotate motor so the exaust is pointing down keeping the slime off your bird.

I'm a bit confused about the elevator \ flaperons.
They are hooked up to the elevator servo. They move up and down with the elevator. It also has seperate ailerons. Not sure how this system works.
Can you explain it?

I fly a 40 size Shrike with a JEN 57 in it - she flies very well - fast. My Shrike has the usual ailerons and single elevator and they are very much in control of the plane.
Not sure why he added the extra "elevators" in the wing, should be interesting!
I like the idea of flaps though...
