Default Balsa USA enforcer

I don't know if this is really fast enough for me to be asking questions in this forum but here goes.

The Balsa USA Enforcer

Is it any good?
Is it very stable?
Is it fast?
How difficult is it to fly?

I am looking for a fast(ish) model to get used to speed before flying my jet. I think the magnum may be a bit quick for me (relative to it's size). What other quick prop planes do people recommend.

Thanks

I have read quite a bit about the enforcer but have not flown one- The only one I saw fly actually had a 4 stroke on it and it was about 70 mph... It landed at about 5 mph, and did very tight loops, fast rolls etc. the guy had it set-up for torque not speed-

The best result I think is from adding a Byron DF unit (Engine, fan, shroud, pipe etc.) they are appropriately called Byro-Enforcers and seem impressive-

Quickees like the Viper or Predator, prop-jets like the Patriot or DC F-20 are others I would recommend--

The Enforcer flies great. It IS different from flying conventional planes, however. Mine originally had a ST 61 that I changed to a ST 75. My guess would be at about 100-110 mph with the 75.
They are big, and a real pain in the keyster to transport, but look awesome on low flyby's!

A couple pics ( I have since given this to my Son-in-Law as a "Welcome home" gift for his safe return from Iraq)

If this is the type of plane your looking for, check out the "Force One" by the same Company (Balsa USA).

My brother bought the one below at an R/C swapmeet, and then gave it to me just recently (He paid $25 for it) We were going to split the cost of putting this in the air, however, neither one of us wanted to "finish" it.

I gave this to a buddy we fly with, and he has flown it the last 2 Sunday's. (he painted it) He's got an OS 46 FX with a tune pipe strapped on, and let me tell ya......this little thing HAULS ASS. HOLY MOLY, I think it's darn near as fast as my 60 F-20/Jett 90 combo!

Not sure how much these kits are, but they have to be SIMPLE to build. I'm sorry I gave this away now!!

I'm seriously considering building one for myself. (would probably be a lot lighter too, as the one in the pics was all fiberglassed and painted)

Best of luck, whatever way you go!

Airgar,

Thanks for the info. I have a spare ST61 that I was going to use for it. What is the performance like?

Obviously you wanted more with the ST75. Did you just want more power or was it a bit marginal on the 61.

Thanks

Great pictures by the way!

A guy in our club had an Enforcer years ago... powered it with an ST 90...

It was fast, but I wouldn't call it extreme... but faster than it would be with whatever .60 you throw at it obviously...
The only way to reach extreme speeds with the Enforcer is to get the thing up high and then do the longest power dive ever... don't forget to pull up
That guy in our club with the .90 on it loved to do this... but he also lost his plane to flutter while doing it... I guess he reached extreme speeds...

All in all it's a nice flying plane... the only thing I didn't like about the way it flew was that "wobble" it seemed to have when it was banked... the plane always seemed to be shaking its tail, and when banking that shows...

O, and they're LOUD... that prop running through the wing sounds like a siren...

Your 61 will fly it fine, I simply wanted a skosh more power. The speeds are not extreme as RudeBoy pointed out, but they do fly with authority.

If I had to choose between the Force One and the Enforcer, I think I would lean towards the Force One.

Not sure what the "wobble" was he saw, I did not have any problems with mine in the turns, in fact it tracked real nice. Perhaps the vertical stabs were not true.

And the sound.... man....ya gotta love it!

Well, I did it....ordered not 1, BUT 2 of the Force One's. I'm thinkin' this would be a good candidate for my Jett 50 after it's broke in.

It's a sickness I tell ya.....but this should fill the "need for speed" until the new Magnums get here.

Yer right.....I shoulda said "addiction", not "sickness"!

I'm betting the Force One/Jett 50 combo will be "as fast" or FASTER than my F-20/Jett 90 combo. Whaddya think?

I've actually had the 50 for well over a year now, and am just getting ready to stick it in a GP Super Sporster for the break-in. Somebody needs to put the whoopin' on Ol FlyBoy Dave's Aresti with the 61 FSR!! I think he's going to be for a little suprise....but don't tell him.

I have the Patriot too (ARF), just not thrilled or anxious to get it going. (I had forgotten about all the CHEAP plastic stuff they used on it)

Balsa USA kits can be purchased from pegasus models.

Their website is being upgraded but if you go to www.pegasusmodels.co.uk they have their phone number and address.

If I can make some space I think I will get an enforcer. I am looking to increase my experience before I fly my turbine Kangaroo. The enforcer looks ideal as it is a similar configuration. Also sounds like you guys have fun with yours. That does it for me.

Jett-50 in a Super Sportster? Sounds interesting... Don't you have a Sonic like Dave mentioned? Put the Jett in there for relaxing Sunday flying!

I hope the SS will be able to handle the 50. It's small, and light....AND I need to get it off my bench so I can start the Sonic.

The OS 91 FX is a dog. The ST 75 would out perform that. (I had one and couldn't wait to get rid of it)

If you could find an ABC 75, stick that on the Enforcer. Once you get to the 91's (which are most always ringed), you start losing the rpm's the ABC's are capable of.

You want performance?? Stick a Jett 90 in it...and then hang on!!

As it turns out iv put a 75 tiger in my panic funfly and its the biggest load of crap iv ever owned.
Hard to set up and never runs a whole tank out. From the 3 FXs iv used they just go on and on.

Dont get me wrong as iv got serveral Tigers up to 3000 and all but the 75 (NEW) are great.

it seems you had a dog of an OS and iv got a dog in this case of a S/T .....anyway about this jett 90
tell me more (Y)

If you have a good running 91 FX without any mods, consider yourself "lucky". If you do a search (here on RCU) you'll find I am not the only one who thinks they are junk.

The Jett 90L is available through:

http://www.jettengineering.com/

Not the cheapest around, but definately one of the best. You can get the info on them there.

Sorry to hear your (Super Tiger?) 75 is not performing for ya.

Try the Tower-75 or MVVS-77 for basic 2 stroke power- The 91FX is a paperweight (usually-)

If you have more $$ try a Jett-90 or DF engine such as an OS-77/91 etc. (Byro-Enforcer)
