BEST DELTA EVER! Post your deltas
This is the best delta I have ever flown, Its a Laser Arrow by Laser Models.
Engine: YS 45
Prop: APC 9x9
Pipe: MACS 1250
Fuel: Omega 10%
Servos: Hitec 645MG
Covered in StitsPolyfiber PolyTone paints
I have flown the DD, Holy Smoke, and Screemin Demon all of which fly great. But the laser arrown flies the best maybe not the fastest I would say 110-120. But my god it just so smooth tracks like a hardcore pattern ship. More vertical then I know to do with, flies inverted hands off, and rolls over faster than a politican Thats just my .02's

Of course I vote for the Screamin' Demon - I expect a high speed ride and a rush of adrenaline and get it every time. The tracking, smoothness, high/low speed ratio are all exemplary, and flies real nice A/E aerobatics when not rushing around at top speed, although it can do them at top speed too if the pilot is up to it. Dunno how the roll rate compares, the best I've managed is about 12 a second while climbing vertically, but I could dial in some more throw if it needs it.

Now there's some color contrast! Definitely not the fastest delta, quite possibly the slowest. Definitely a great flier.

Rob, you know how estimating speed on these little high pitched planes goes.. it sounds like it's doing 200. All I can guess is maybe 120. I've had my wife out twice trying to film it so I can at least get it dopplered, but no luck yet.
What's the story behind those 2 photos you show here? I wouldn't call you a wimp if you needed help launching the big one, I'd let that slide.

That looks pretty evil, Fly450!
This is my favorite. It's got a .061 Cyclon, 32,000 with a 4.2x4 prop....unloads to what sounds like 36,000 or more.
15% nitro fed with a latex bladder.
The plane weighs 11-12 ozs

I'm with MJD on this one, If I may, the SD is so smooth, does what you want it too, and fast, with no bad tendencies! Love it!

The SD is a nice one I HAD one about a year ago. I was amazed at how fast it was with just a TT 46. The Laser Arrow is not fast I know but I still love it, also its no longer made. I might build another. Will need a anothet engine. the YS is a bit heavy, but that case pressure fuel system works like a champ never sags or goes lean pulling out of a dive. Plus the rear pipe make a great handle when I launch it I just grab it with a dish towel. Love the pics everyone has posted!

The jet-thing is a delta technically? Same deal, Cyclon .061, micro radio gear, solid balsa sheet wing.

Yessir! I thought of the Vulcan when thread was posted too. What a sight that was when we got to see it fly around here, forget the last time but maybe in the '70's. Noise abatement was not a concern at the time it was built, methinks..

RE: BEST DELTA EVER! Post your deltas
Right now I am turning 16.5K with a 9x9. The engine is runing nice and cool. So why beat it up??? Also without knowing what pipe I am using how can you tell me what header lenght I should have? Also Cutting the header down which prop should I run? Also what airframe were you runing your YS. Not being smart ***** but I am always intrested in how people tune pipes.

RE: BEST DELTA EVER! Post your deltas
APC 9X9 @ 16300 is a " benchmark" number that I use for the YS 45 and I've never done it with a header that LOOKS as long as the one in that picture.
Your using a 1250 pipe which should work fine, I normally use the 1240. With the extra volume you have, I would have thought you would have had to really choke up on the header.
If your set up works.... cool, it just leaves me confused.[sm=50_50.gif]

RE: BEST DELTA EVER! Post your deltas
my advice is based on prior ownership of 45 and 60 sized YS engines along with a few years of experience as mac's product employee, your length as it is in pictures may turn the 16k plus rpm no doubt, but hows your mileage........and how does it transition back to lower throttle settings etc, we had people complain of losing plugs etc etc

RE: BEST DELTA EVER! Post your deltas
Thoes are good points, It does become sluggish comming out of a low speed setting to high. Should I be using a different prop? I'll cut the header down 3.5 tonight

lfinney, I have been watching your spike in posts lately and what I would like to know is very simple. WHO ARE YOU ??? If you don't tell me I will just have to bother Wally McCallister himself, Not his brother Dave although I can certainly do that too.
