Default dubb jet 56

Aquired a jet 56. noticed that the piston when at bottom of stroke is not even to bottom of the sleeve it at least 1/8 to 3/16 above it leaving the exhaust port looking closed off
anyone experience this??? appreciate help rich barile thanks

Let me get this straight:

If the piston is all the way down, about 1/8" of the exhaust port is still covered by the piston?

Sounds like the sleeve is rotated 180 degrees?

Is the engine new? I just pulled the header off of one of my many small block Jett engines, and the piston sits quite a bit below the bottom of the exhaust port at BDC. If your piston is up too high in the port something is seriously wrong. How about posting a couple of pictures.
