Default El Mirage II Fun-Fly/Campout

Hello, I have put together the second El Mirage II, fun-fly family weekend. I have had alot of people respond to a camping weekend, up in the high desert here in southern california. The first one went real well, so we decided to put on another one.The site will be El Mirage Dry Lake bed. It will be held on November 8TH & 9TH. There is plenty of room so bring your motorhome, travel trailer, camper or tent. All are welcome. Even if you can only come out for the day, please make a note on your calander, and take a road trip. I would like some input for a BBQ on saturday night, as last time the wife and I made spare ribs and corn on the cobb, for about 10 people who stayed into the evening. If you would like to bring something else I will provide my BBQ for your cooking pleasure. Please e mail me and lets get a head count, as to how many will be going. Last time we had over 20 diffrent planes on the flight line. All types of plane will be welcome. This is a 1 mile x 7+ mile long dry very smooth lake bed with no restrictions and free camaping. This is not a sanctioned AMA event, but it is a weekend where people can meet one another and show off there stuff. Bring the wife and kids and lets sit by a camp fire at night and make SMORES LOL, Or you can leave them at home, and spend some quality time with a bunch of fellow R/Crs who love this hobby. I am open to any ideas that others may have. Please e mail me at tkigar@aol.com if you have any questions. The links below give you a general idea of where the lake bed is located. I have full detailed directions if anyone needs them. Looking forward to seeing you all there.
Thanks Tiny Tim

WE HAD TO CHANGE THE DATES DUE TO THE EDWARDS AIRFORCE BASE AIR SHOW. I HOPE THIS DATE WILL WORK FOR EVERYONE. THANKS TIM

Let me know if you need any help on anything-

I will be bringing a few feet of Kielbasa so...

I was at the last one folks and this is the biggest possible piece of smooth dirt around!

About 7 miles long and 1 mile wide- Even I can land on that!

"UPDATE"........The weather is in the mid 80s and it looks like perfect flying weather. I hope FlyBoyDave is going to show, as he missed out last time on the BBQ. Spread the word. This is an open event for anything that flys. And yes.......Razor does fly better with a few Tequilla shots in him. I am counting the days down, and cant wait. Tiny Tim

FunFly & Campout is next week and I was wondering if anyone has heard from FlyBoyDave? I even have a response from a guy in Westminister, California who will be flying his full scale,Cessna 182 out to the lake bed, landing it and tieing it up next to a few travel trailers and motorhomes and then flying his models for the day. Lets hope the fires die down and the smoke clears a lil so we can have a great weekend. Looking forward to seeing you all there.

Thanks Tiny Tim

Wooooo- hoooooo

A full scale guy is flying in? sweet
Hawker is coming sat.? sweet
Priestly with the rocket assisted JATO Patriot? sweet
Us taking turns on CH 19? crap

I may be bringing a Fiance also! (Please do not enter the trailer without knocking! )

Seriously Tim- What were the directions from S.D.?

I am really looking forward to this, especially after this firestorm we had...

I have a beat-up AT-6, an almost all there Champion-25, and a Mutunic-65 that I will be giving away as awards! (None of which is valued over $30-)

I was thinking of a couple of events:

1. Most tequila shots WHILE flying-
2. Most tequila shots WHILE NOT flying-
3. This is called "Fly Hawkers Magic" in which the pilots take turns flying Mike's Magic attempting to do the "dancing death spin" or whatever he calls it-
3. The last event is called "Crash Tim's trainer" (self explanatory-)

Winners of each get one of the aforementioned "awards" courtesy of the Devils Crotch Gang

Default RE: Directions from San Diego.......

Take the 15 north to the 215 north back to the 15 north.... (as it will cut off about 10 miles).......continue on the 15 till you come to the 395 north(that is at the top of the Cajon Pass).....vere to the 395 and follow that all the way into the town of Adlanto (home of the House of Balsa Factory). go all the way till the very north end of town....till you come to the last light which is called Chamberlin Way, and make a left. follow Chamberlin way wast through about 5 stop signs till the road comes to a "T" and make a right. Follow that road north for about 1/4 mile and the road will make a left back to the east and follow that down about 1 mile till you see the El Mirage main Sign on your right hand side. Look for the BALOONS, and make a right onto the dirt road......follow that dirt road down till you come to the first left you can make with will say LAKE ACCESS......and turn left and head down to the left.....we will be in the general area we were for the last event .....look out on the lake bed to the south west ( middle/ Left ) From the main lakebed go out apprx 1.9 miles and look to your left for the ballons and my Suburban and 26 foot travel trailer. There is also a new outhouse (bathroom) with a windsock flying high on top.... I will be bringing the T-Bone 40 inch flat grill&bbq and haveplanned a Pancake breakfast for everyone on Sunday. Looking forward to meeting the lil woman, and I know my wife will be bringing the blender as well. I am sure they wil hit it off just fine......and if not they can both stay in there trailers and we can crash my many trainers hoooooyaaaawwwwwww. I like the idea about MHawers ModelTech Magic Death spin classic......and if he doesnt bring his I have My new ModelTech Magic Xtra 300l with a brand spanking new 46FX just waiting to see how many death spins I can pull off..... and yes a real Cessna 182 just for the hell of it....he hear so much about the last one he wasnt going to miss it this time......so he will be flying out Saturday..... DUDE I NEED A VACATION. See you all there

Thanks Tiny Tim

Well,

For one, we don't have dry lake beds over here...
And we're not allowed to fly on anything than a designated "model airport"... The fines on doing that are pretty high...
And I live in a small country... I think our country is about half the size of Cali... lol
And there's no such thing like RCU over here... so no chance of hooking up with fellow revvers...
And people over here seem to be into electric gliders mostly... I really don't know why that is... Perhaps because we have really tight noise regulations all over the country...

So, it just doesn't work...

UPDATE !!!!!!! The temp out side is 54 degrees with no rain clouds in site. I am in the middle of packing the travel trailer and the FunFly is a GO!!!!! I will give it a green light, but can not promise what it will look like by sun up, they say a chance of rain so I am getting an early start and possibly even heading out tonight. Remember.....once you enter the lake bed from the far east side.....head west and we all will be camped out approx 1.9 miles on the south side (left) near the new out house and wind sock. See you all there. Tiny Tim
