Help!! pick a plane and motor/prop
Ive heard of prop planes that can fly at 200 plus MPH
I want one. What should I buy and do you guys know of any links where I can see them flying.
Currently I fly helis and most glow plane up to 90 size.
Ive got some gassers too
I kinda want this speed plane to be a glow engine power
any suggestions?
Thanks

Here's a link to a plane doing 200 MPH+ in a straight line.
[link]http://213.84.42.244:8087/paulraaf/f3d_training.mpg[/link](mpg, 14,6 Mb)
Same but lower quality:

Note that this is an F3D racer and there engines are not very easy to tune.

I would recommend either a Whiplash or a Weston UK Magnum(not currently acailable) with a West Eurotech .50v1 Engine and pipe

For the money I would get a Diamond Dust with either a Jett 50 or GRRT 40. Vry easy plane to build and fly with any engine. And loads of fun

The DD is a great bargain but the Whip is much stronger if you have an "incident"- [X(]
I would love to get a new Magnum or a KangkeF3D

yes the Whip is much stronger. I have to agree.
But for bang for the buck and fast assembly and to try out extreme speed i vote for Dust... That way you get a dab into the speed and go from there. You can get going for pretty cheap then go from there. The Whip is an awesome machine if you decide to stick with extreme speed planes.

RE: Help!! pick a plane and motor/prop
Hi I am sorry that I can not remember the name of the plane but you can contact Chip and he could tell you. He just put on a demo iv Venice Florida at a aerobatic competition I was at with a small plane couldnt of been more than a 30 inch wing span had a small brand name jet glow motor in it at it flew at over 200 mph and would turn on a dime. He flew probably 10 feet from his head and dead lefted that thing so fast it was amazing. There a little tricky to land. Hope this helps you can go to chip hydes web site and probably get his contact number.

RE: Help!! pick a plane and motor/prop
The best bang for the buck is any 50$ quickie 500 model and a 50$ thunder tiger gp 42 with a apc 8/9 or 8/10. Cut 5" off the wings for a total of 400 sq in. Open the carb as far as possible using an oval hole, remove baffle and open up the exhaust exit as much as possible. End result for a 100$ investment is a very lightweight, fast, inexpensive, and easy to fly plane. Speed of this combination can vary from 150mph to 170mph depending on nitro percentage. At the present time I use an apc 8/10 and 15% nitro for 15400 rpm static. You have to try it to believe it.

RE: Help!! pick a plane and motor/prop
With a rear exhaust os 46vf with exhaust timing increased to 170 degrees and intake increased to a total duration of 195 degrees and changing the stock carb to a more efficient ducted fan carb yielded a motor that would turn a apc 8/10 18500+ and unload in the air another 2 to 3 thousand rpm. The only problems encountered with this motor were blowing the blades off the apc 8/10 props 3 or 4 times after the motor unloaded in the air. The key point to using a q-500 plane to go fast is reducing the sq in down to 400 by cutting 5" off both wing tips and leaving them squared and flat. A table saw with a fine blade works very well. By reducing the frontal area the motor will unload in the air and give you the speed your looking for. Keep it light, keep it straight, keep it small and haul.
