RE: Balsa USA enforcer
Hey Cars,
Yeah count me in as long as it isn't the second weekend in October. I should be able to swing a Friday even though I'm starting a new job this month. I get to set my own hours!
Keep me posted chief. It will be neat to see this thing screaming down the runway on a low pass.

Congratulations on the new job, now get to work you need to save for your first jet. .
I will be getting a Rookie next month, should have everything for it 'till early next year including the turbine, mucho $$$$$$$ but for the moment it will need some internal work before it is ready to take flight.
The second weekend of next month is the Woodland/Davis jet meet, hope you can make it it will be hot.

Nope. Me and the Captain will be at a family reunion that weekend. First time in 20yrs we've had one. I'll have to link up with you in Davis some other time.
Hopefully I'll start earning some pretty good money in the next few months. I'm going to try and get Sheldon's hobbies as one of my clients. : )
Maybe with your help we'll be doing the jet thing in no time. We just have to lock up the Captain in the pits while flying. Captains are lousy co-pilots. Know what I mean?
You get the Rookie up and going and I'll start in on the Super Hornet.
Deal?

RE: Balsa USA enforcer
I might want to retrofit my Enforcer with retracts and was wondering if you ever put the retract mods in a CAD program. If not I have a ModelCad rendition of the Enforcer wing that I drew that you are welcome to have if you want it. It wouldn't be hard to modify the plans for the retracts.

Not much left to do to get her ready for the maiden flight, but the flight report will have to wait for about two weeks, I'm going on vacation for about a week.
CG is just forward of the CG point.
Dry weight is 11 #, right on target.
Engine is K&B 82.
Sprig air retracts.
Radio is Futaba 9c.
21oz. main fuel tank with 2oz. header tank .
BVM in-flight fuel valve.
Twin rudders.

Finally got to fly mine again with an APC 11x7 prop (the right way round!).
This is much better now. Top speed is still not huge but it feels 'right'. Take off is much shorter (and I'm on grass now) and vertical is better. I think it might be faster than it seems as it is quite big and really easy to see. My clubmates were amazed at how slow it will land!
I may possibly try an APC 10x8 but don't want to destroy the ST61 by over revving. You can really hear it unwind as the speed builds up. For the time being I am happy as it is.
I bought this model as a trainer for my Kangaroo and it fits the bill perfectly. It loves wide sweeping turns, high speed passes and nice big loops.
Awesome fun!

"32oz. main fuel tank with 2oz. header tank"
WOW, you must be planning on some 15 minute flights! Mine has a 24 oz. main + 2 oz. header, and it's good for 9+ minutes at full throttle with an OS91 DF (Byron fan). I usually fly for 7 minutes then land, that leaves plenty extra for a couple go-rounds. For a plane that fast I don't care to fly much longer than that.
Your K&B 82 should have better fuel consumption than my OS91. I'd suggest that you save some significant weight and put a 20 oz. tank in it.
By the way your Enforcer is lookin good. Let us know how the maiden flight goes.

Joeflyer,
you may be right on the fuel tank, I didn't like to much the idea of carrying that much fuel, I happen to have a 20oz. tank this is what I'm going to do, test fly it with the 32oz. to determine the fuel consumption then change the tank depending on the fuel burn per minute.
Thank you for the kind words. She looks good doesn't she?.
Maiden flight may be today, I will let you know tonight of the results.

CARS II - My DF Enforcer with the OS 91/Dynamax ran about 6 or 7 minutes with a 20 ounce tank. After that, I was so rattled, I didn't want to fly anymore
Speed kills, you know[X(][X(]
Just fooling...you'll have a blast with this plane. I need to add retracts to mine...
