RE: ** El Mirage III ** May 22, 23.
ORIGINAL: Razor-RCU
El Mirage III is set for May 22nd and 23rd (Sat.& Sun.)
It is time to do it again, grab whatever you have that flies and head to the lake-bed !
(cut)
This is not a sanctioned AMA event, but it is a weekend where people can meet one another and "fly what you got"!

DO THEY FLY JETS?
The first mentioned web page didn`t give me a clue, and the second one only mentiones "remote control airplane flying".
This forum is about prop planes (as are the pics you supplied), but when it comes to speed...
Just want to make sure I don´t miss out on anything.

I haven't been flying for a few years, but have been getting back in. If I bring my little Eaglet, will someone be willing to help me get airborne again. Last time I flew at El Mirage was in the mid 80's with my Sig Colt trainer. Thanks for any help.

Whew! Looks like I will be traveling in a somewhat compact arrangement (Car) since truck & trailer are not happenin! I did secure a room at the finest hotel in Adelanto for $36- though [X(]
I am excited but I need to start loading the car on about Wednesday, to get all the stuff I want in there---
ROLL-CALL ANYONE?

Thanks to those that replied. I have a JR783 radio. It has been a few years since flying regularly, so any help would be greatly appreciated. What is the best way to get to the flying site??
Thanks,
Tony R

James,
Park your car where you can keep an eye on it, I don't think Adelanto has the friendliest bunch.
Tony,
Take the 15 North to the Wrightwood/Silverwood Lake turn-off. This is Highway 138, take this west to Sheepcreek Road (about a mile past Hwy 2 ) Follow it around, and you'll end up going north. Simply stay on this road until it ends. It ends at El Mirage Road, make a right, and the entrance of the lakebed is about 2 miles.
Watch your speed when on 138, they're out to get'ja! It's also a "double fine" zone!
If you look at the map Dave posted, it's shows the N/W part of the lake we'll be at.
Note for whoever gets there first.... We nose the vehicles into the area where all the small hills/berms are and fly off the back, toward the North.
See ya there,
Gary

AriGar, thanks for the info. Beats the old way of going 395 to Adelanto and hanging a left. Is it accessible with a normal car? I'll be up on Sunday. Does anybody have a JR trainer cord since I am a LOT rusty at this? Thanks,
Tony

Well- It looks as if I am not going to be able to make it this weekend
Trisha's (my wife) car took a dump, must be the starter or alternator... We have a trusty mechanic but his day job is with the city, so he won't get to it until the weekend-
I dont want to leave her without a car the whole weekend so...
I am sure activities will go on without me, please someone remember to bring a buddy-box for TonyR
Airgar- I will send you a postal money order for the plane- I plan on coming up 2 weeks from now to fly if we can meet up?
Have fun and fly safe!

The regulars will be out at El Mirage on Sunday for sure, if anyone wants
to come out and fly. All the fliers are experienced, so there are no worries.
You'll find them in the NW corner of the lake. [sm=thumbup.gif]
Sorry you couldn't make it, James. [] There will be a next time.
Dave.

Well, El Mirage III ended up being a Land-sailers day. Wind howled all day, 25-35 mph, but the beer was cold and the dogs and company were good!
I did manage a couple flights, as did a couple others, but the conditions were far from perfect.
