Default What type of props do you use for high RPM engines?

I was planning to buy a Jett 50 motor. Can I safely run an APC prop on it....will it shatter? Do I have to run a pylon type prop? What kind of props do you guys use for engines that turn 16,000 RPMs or more?

An APC prop (9x9/9x8) is fine on the Jett-50, until you get above 20K the sport props work fine as long as they are balanced-

You didn't happen to find that Jett-50 in the bushes did you? [X(] I liked the 9x9 best on my Patriot/Jett-50 combo-

What plane is it goin' in?

Cheers!

The APC 9x8 was my favorite prop on my SJ-50/Shrike 40. I would consider the (SS) Super Sport tuned muffler over the standard muffler. It will increase the RPM's as long as you do not over prop it. You can expect a static rpm of 18,000+ on a 9x8 and SS muffler. A 9x9 may give you a few mph increase over the 9x8 but I enjoyed the extra thrust from a higher rpm of the 9x8.

On my .50 Sport Jett I like the APC 10x7 sport prop. Then again, I'm pulling a little draggier airplane (Spitfire).

For high RPMs this is what we run.

Nelson Quickee engines run between 19-20,000. We use APC Pylon props. These have Thicker Hubs than the standard APC props.

Nelson Q40 engines run between 23-24,000. We use either Hand or CNC cut Wood Props, or APC Carbon Fiber props.

The FAI engines turn up even higher than the Nelson Q40. Most of them are running hand made Carbon Fiber Props.
