Default Dust motor mount

I just got my DD. In looking over the plans, I notice the motor mount plate is only 1/8 ply. Is this sufficient for a Rossi 45? I've got some CF or I could glass it or should I double it in the engine mounting area with another piece of 1/8 ply?
Thanks,,,basmntdweller

Default Dust motor mount

i would leave the ply plate as is . 50+ flights on mine , ive had everything from a 25 on pipe to 46fx on pipe& it held up fine until... i was doing full throttle diving passes lower & lower , on my last pass (the lowest possible 120 mph +) whack!! the plane did a 40 ft high bounce deadstick. turned into the wind& landed sweet!! i could see the motor hanging & expected carnage. up on inspection found 1 prop with no blades& motor mount broken clean off at blind nuts (NO OTHER DAMAGE TO AIRFRAME) repaired in 1/2 hr, cut new ply plate & epoxied to old one. a breakaway motor mount makes sense on any plane with out landing gear. however on my new one ( jett ss40 powered ) i am doubling the balsa sheeted bottom with 1/64 ply( a couple dead stick landings on the asphalt runway made me wish i,d done this on the first ! )also i,m moving the antenna tube holes away from the firewall . ( i,ve seen a couple of dusts crack the 2 centre ribs at these holes. (ROUGH landings) any one else suggest further mods??? rob m
