Magnum BITE the Dust. RIP
My Magnum crash in the hands of a friend that want to try it because he was interested in order one..........Know he have to order 2
This Magnum was the first edition, the one that the black simulated carbon fiber that comes off.
Since my frind is going to order one for me I need to know what else do I need to order.
I remeber my magnum does not come with spinner and does not come with the silicone coupling that joint the header with the tune pipe.
Do the new Magnum R comes with the silicone coupling and spinner????? Or do I have to order this separately.
What other recomendation you have.
THX,
Isaac

Big North Texas Howdy,
The new MagnumR comes with the silicone coupler but does not include the spinner. Weston offers one for about $12.00 US but I don't know how they are to deal with.
ps You will probably thank your friend for crashing your old magnum after you fly the new one.

For the most part it's about quality. The inside of the fuse looks a little different. There's a hatch for the elevator servo behind the wing. Much better fit & finish.

I have the old style Magnum too... mine came with the silicone coupler...[sm=confused.gif][sm=confused.gif]
The spinner the offer for the plane is OK... not Tru Turn quality though, but sufficient. Just don't forget to properly balance the spinner... first check the backplate, it will very likely be ok... then put the cone on and rebalance... it will be way off. I roughened the inside of the spinner, degreased it, and used thick CA to bring the light side up to par. Works a lot faster than trying to lighten the heavy side...
And don't overtighten the retaining screw... you will deform the backplate...

I had cheap old JR 507's all around for a moment (when both my HS 605's failed due to vibration[X(])... but I went back to (reworked) 605's because the slop of the 507's combined with the slop of the aileron linkage was a bit too much for my likings...
And yes, philly is right, you do not need a super servo for a plane this size. A couple of good quality mini's should be plenty.
I think the key word for these planes is not torque, but quality... use something decent, not something you can buy by the pound...
