Did you know that the G&G F-18 is just a glass version of the plans that Mike Pastro published in Radio Control Modeler Magazine here in the US? You can get the .40 sized or .60 sized pusher F-18's at www.rcmmagazine.com I've built the .40 sized powered with an OS .46SF and fixed gear. Flies great.

Bad Driver:

Traplet has plans for an F-4 tractor prop jet. It was designed waaaaay back in 90 by Pavel Bosak for a .61 engines. I'm an Phantom nut, so I had to get it. It's not very scale, but it looked good until I noticed that there were no air intakes!

I scanned a picture of the airplane in the back issue of RCMW it was featured in just to give you an idea of how it looks(since Traplet's website has no pictures).

Just my opinion, but the dimensions look similar to a Great Planes F-4...

LOL, I'm not that patriotic to my county Like I said thanks for the thought but I just don't like it enough to spend months building one (yup, I'm a slooow builder).

Nice Phantom ! But again 'not my cup-o-tea'. I've seen a couple of Pavel Bosaks other designs on the Nexus (RCM&E) web-site but I've set my heart on the F-18 Hornet from RCM - most probably the .60 size

A quick (dumb) question John, are the wings detachable on the Hornet ? I hope so or I'll have to buy a new car aswell

The only dumb question is the one not asked. The wings on the RCM hornet are not detachable as per built according to plans. This is why I decided to give the 40 hornet a try first, before even thinking about the 60 sized one.

I guess making the wings detachable can be done, but it'll take a lot of thought and ingenuity and I'm lacking in those two areas right now..

Hmmm, non-detachable wings is a real bugger (U.K. use of the word ). I suppose I'll have to get the plans and have a look see; there's a couple of experienced builders in my club (and another one or two I know from a U.K. forum I use) who may be able to offer suggestions. Other than that I'd best start saving for a Volvo 240

Re. the plans I was thinking of buying the .60 size and then possibly reducing them over here if necessary... but then again $14 is only about £9 so that maybe false economy.

Ah HA someone who can probably help me!!! I have the .60 sized plans from RCM of the F-18 they are really cool except for the square shaped afterburners other than that its cool!!! it will be decorated in a low viz canadian tiger-stripe theme!!

I also have most of PAVEL BOSAKs plans the harrier and mirage III etc .... here is my question.

I just read a couple of days ago on a forum discussion that he also has a Mirage F-1 and a Jaguar as well as others ( I am getting his Ducted Fan Phantom in the mail... looks awesome) anyways I have searched all over the internet for his jaguar and F-1 propjet plans... can you tell me where to find them in the UK? also does he have a tornado Prop jet?

Do you know of the UK magazine RCM&E? Their publisher is Highbury-Nexus and they do some of Pavels plans but I think just the older ones.

Then click on 'Plans' at the botom of the page...
Then click on 'R/C Power'...
Now you're at the pages for each type of design... hit 'R/C Jet Style'... and there you are (Phew!).

Oops, dopey me! I've just double-checked and there is Pavels 60size prop-driven Tornado on page 2.

The Pavel Bosak Mirage F1 plans and canopy are sold by Traplet Publications in the UK. I bought the plans, and built the F1 about 10 yrs ago. It didn't last long (3 flights) but I think that was more a result of my lack of flying skill at the time...the F1 is a very fast (model) aiplane with just a .40 in the tail!

If the T-2's test flight goes ok, I plan to re-do my plans. You might consider taking your favorite jet and drawing plans for yourself.
I wanted a Buckeye so I drew my own.

I have used an old well used TT 42 with a tuned pipe on my latest Hawk.

The ideal would be a 46 with a tuned pipe or even a 50, but you will have to move the firewall back 1/2" to accomodate extra weight.

You can get both the Hawk and Torndao in kit form from bvrkits.com and westfiledmodels.co.uk.

I built mine from plans in RCM&E magazine and made a few modifications to the wing and fuse to accomodate more power as the Hawk was designed for a 25 and the tornado was electric.

I am working with bvr and hoping to produce a IC kit of the tornado as I have no intention of scratch building 3 or 4 tornado's as i have for other club members for the Hawk.

I am working on a new Hawk for a 46 and a tuned pipe or even a 50 racing engine. Should be fast and furious......will let you know how it goes......


I am currently deisging a new prop jet for speed with balsa sheet wings copy of plan attached. So a busy time ahead.
