Default Any 60 size speed planes?

I am looking for a 60 size speed plane. I know there is the Little Toni and Shoestring, but is there anything else?

Rare Bears seem a bit pricey. As for the kit, I am looking for an ARF.

The new Patriot is a Kit.

FBD has a 60 F-20 for sale, or at least he did. Give him a holler....

What type of 60 do you have to work with Dean ????

I tell ya what...... if you want a smoking 60 size ship.... rather than the usual ones we usually suggest here........ keep your eyes open for one of the older 70's-80s vintage pattern ships! My old Compensator with OS VR installed flew well over 100 mph. My Tipo with the side exhaust was faster. The EU-1A with the rossi rear exhaust, turning a max daily 10.75x7.75 prop around 14,500 rpm really hauled buns coming out of the end turns (did some of the best slow rolls ever with that plane). I recall seeing a Phoenix 8 do some speed trap runs at over 120 mph.

The earlier planes relied more on speed to carry energy through the larger manuvers. The Arrow, Blue Angel, Atlanta, Curare, Tipo, Dirty Birdy, UFO, T2-A, Peppermint Patti, Phoenix 7&8, Magic all were quick with a honkin 60 and the right prop. There are numerous other designs from that 1975 to 1985 period that might interest you. Occationally you can find them on swap shops and such. MK still makes kits for a few of them.

Just some options......

I am surprised noone has mentioned the Shoestring...

112mph clocked in a flat run, 300'msl, OS61FX, overall weight was 6.5lbs....SMOKIN![X(]

EDIT: I always wanted to put a 91FX in mine, but it didn't last long enough

What props are suitable for hot .60 to .90 size engines? What RPMs? APC has 10 inch sport props and 11 inch pattern props, but are other options available?

What rpm are you turning on the ground with the APC props? Any prop failures? Thanks for the info.

I would have to agree with Bob...

An old style pattern plane with a decent engine will move.

A friend of mine used to have a "Leopard" (don't ask me where it came from, I don't know) with a piped rear exhaust Webra long stoke, and thing moved!... Way too fast if you compare it to todays pattern style.

You can still find old pattern kits around, at really good prices... they make excellent "sunday fliers" and they move out pretty well on a decent engine...

My Zen-50 with a piped Rossi-60 is faster than most planes at our field.... Not really necessary but fun anyhow!

I have wanted to try a DF engine in a plane but have not done so yet---
