Maiden flight on the magnum video !!
Hi Folks
As promised on the Magnum v MagnumR thread.
Here is a small video from the maiden flight on the Magnum R.
Only running a 9 x 6 and quite rich to settle the engine in but it should give you an idea of its low end performance.
The landings have improved somehwat no with 5 flights under my belt, its so easy to bring it in and flare for a slow landing now, you can almost drag the tail along the grass before putting it down. C of G is at 140mm.

Video is 4.12mb. Music added for a bit of fun for those who remember the film
Cheers

Where do you have your battery mounted?
I made a removable "platform" over the elevator servo and strapped the battery down there. Helped a little in getting the CG backwards.

I've got my battery on that plate just infront of the elevator servo.
On the part of the wing that covers the elevator servo, i'm going to add the lead. and may even need some strips along/underneith the tailplane.
we'll see.
How much do your magnums weigh dry?

I never actually weighed it... but I do have the impression it "feels" rather heavy in relation to the wing area.
I also have about 30 grams of lead glued under the tail.

YOUR TURN
YOUR TURN
excellent fun, quite fast with a 40 on it, not overly nuts, but a good start. Dolly broke, but that'll soon be fixed as i've learnt a few things to improve on it...
rock solid flier, got a vid of maiden take off and some general flying.
