I'm trying my best to get this airplane to be a regular flyer at a sod strip.
My wing loading on this works out to be 25 oz/sq ft, 304 sq. in. wing. 3 1/4 lbs. I 'm running a MVVS .15. It flys real nice although it's very sensitive to control movement.

I like to have some guidelines to wingloading.
I've only had 3 flights with this and each landing is a high speed disaster. (It's a sod field) I've tried some skids and installed landing gear and am still searching for the answer. (Probably a molded skid)
I'm still working on trying to slow it down to land. It looks like a deadstick landing would be the best.

Any advise on this little project would be appreciated.

That's a beautiful plane, but at 3.25 pounds it is too heavy to be a good all around flyer. You need to fly something like that where there is lots of smooth pavement and lots of room to make long, gentle approaches. Landing dead stick would be mandatory. If you can set the elevator up with dual rate control, that should make the plane easier to handle. To be a good grass field flyer, a plane that size shouldn't weigh much more than 2 pounds, actually with .15 powered planes, I shoot for 27 ozs.

Looks like one of the older QM-15 planes (not sure which exact model).

Landing dead stick would be mandatory and try to flair just as the plane stalls to the ground.

In all honesty, I would avoid flying that at the sod field, and find something with either "less thick" grass, or a paved surface.

This is a West Coast Models, Miss RJ, 1/8 pylon racer. I guess it's about 10 years old. It has a fibreglass fuse and foam sheeted wings.
I found it hanging on the wall in a garage, having never been flown. It was something completely new to me and so far I'm having fun.

The trick to landing is deadstick. Now I'm ready to go faster.

looks like it would be fun......i agree with you that you need to find a way to slow her down to land on the sod field......but i thinkt hat plane should be bred for all out speed in the air......i have no clue on how to help you with that, but i just have to say great looking plane[8D]

looks like the engine head is the problem, digs in on landing and flips the plane around, fair it in with some sort of cowl and it'll be fine..
3 lbs for a 15 is badddddd
