Engine for F16N
As many of you will know, I have a CBM F16N with a Webra 91 in it. This is needing an 11x8 prop which leaves b***** all ground clearence. Now, i would go for a YS 45 but I cannot easily get hold of one here in the UK. So what engine will do equally well? (that i can get hold of)
What prop sizes are people finding work good with this plane?
Thanks for your help,

Dave,
You have a 90 size motor in it now, and you want to replace it with the same size that will swing an 11x8? Not quite following you....
The Jett 90L I have on my F-20 has an APC 11x8 up front...in fact, that's the ONLY prop that motor has ever seen.
The Jett 50's swing 9x8's and 9x9's if your looking to downsize.
What's the flying weight?
You can't go wrong with the Jett line of motors.

I'm looking for an engine thats comparable to the YS45. And that will swing a smaller prop.

RE: Engine for F16N
Well then......top choices would be:
Jett 50
West 50
The above, are both a little better in performance than the YS 45, IMO.
Next in line would be the YS 45....
Other motors to consider is the MVVS 49, and the Webra 50 (the West 50 was derived from the latter) (I, personally don't have experience with them, but I have heard nothing but good!) Obviously, these are not going to perform like the first 2-3 mentioned, but are good and cheaper alternatives.

RE: Engine for F16N
You need a YS-45 >>> .
Try a search--- You will find EVERYONE recommending the YS-45RE, Macs tuned pipe 7.5/8.5CC w/APC 10x7/8-
With the fuel tanks being 3 feet from the engine you need something pumped- (Preferrable RE so the pipe is hidden in the fuse.)
I have one but it is SE

RE: Engine for F16N
I guess if you have a reliable pump the Jett-50 would be the way to go--- A gent. was flying one of these at our field recently (with a YS-45) and it was pretty quick.... Not much for vertical but they sure look cool!
Wasn't yours nose heavy with the Webra on-board?

Dave-
Before you drive yourself nyuts trying to swap that engine, try a 10x9 or maybe a 10x10 prop.
Tach it and the Webra will tell you which one it prefers...
Good Luck!

RE: Engine for F16N
Razor........weren't you looking to sell off an YS45 ??
The YS is probably the best choice if you are looking to replace the engine.
The Jett 50 has been used on a number of F-16N planes with good success, but each required either a perry pump, or an revised fuel system installation and a 2 oz header tank right at the firewall. The Weston would work with the same conditinos. The advantage the Jett 50 has is you can run the side exhaust version with the muffler, and get nearly the same performance the YS RE can supply. Most guys were turning 9x8 or 10x6 pusher props on the F-16N installation.
In the short term, you may try the other props suggested. I know, its hard to find pusher props in the correct size. But even if you simply take your 11x8 and cut it down a bit, you may find some improved performance. APC makes a 10x8 P prop that would probably work well too. The Webra 91 is fairly high timed, and does not at all mind turning up a bit Let it unwind.... RPM is your friend with that plane... the prop is in dirty air to start with. If you are running a pipe, you will have to shorten that up a bit when using the smaller prop.

Flyboy Dave is talking about the Cermark F-16 not the CBM F-16N (He must be painting his hot-rod and inhaling a bit...)
