Two engine choices..shrike 40
Help me choose gents; I'm not new to speed, but I'm building a Shrike 40. Question, I have a Sport Jett .40 or a new Super Tiger .61 to use in the Shrike. What engine would you guys put in it? I know the Jett 40 likes an APC 9x7, 9x8. The super Tiger I feel I would use an APC 10x7 and up. Any ideas'.. Glenn

ST 61 is an over kill, mainly in size. The Shrike .40 comes out very nose heavy and batterys and such need to go as far back as possible. Conner is probably here somewhere but that Sport Jett .40 and a 9/6 APC will give you a very good ride to start with.

Thanks guys.. Yep guess your all right about the weight of the Tiger.. size overkill' for sure. I'll use the Jett .40, I had the jett in an Arrow which I retired. I had the smaller shike w/ an OS 32sx in it ,which was a great flyer. So this 40 Shrike is replacing the arrow and the smaller shike as my new speed plane.
I'm going to use the two servos in the wing, Question; Would Hitec HS-85's be ok for the ailerons to help save on weight / or should I use standard size servos , like 148's , any thoughts ?

Dave, the HS-85BB have 42oz.. should be ok, I was just thinking , their small, but strong for their size. Plus, one for each aileron, and the ailerons not really that big..I should be fine. I did mount the Jett .40 , and shoe horned a 12oz tank in the fuselage , for we all know how the Jett's like to drink'. One thing I going to try for all of us Shrike guys here'... I going to extend the length of the stab from the wing hinge line to the elevator about an 1"-1 1/2", to help out on the flair when landing dead stick. I feel it should help with its landing habits..
