Please, I need Speed!!!!!!
OK, I have, or have had several planes. For example, javelin, Patriot, Phantom, Giles, Cap, Spectrum, and the list goes on. I put the best engines( Rossi Jett Mvvs) for weight and power and prop(APC Scimitar) on them. All I can seem to get is about 100-120 MPH. I have not owned a belly lander yet. I love the way the Patriot, Javelin, and the Spectrum fly and land. What is a Plane that is FAST and $, but can fly great. I have been looking at the Magnum, but can not find where I can get one(back ordered). I love speed!
Please Help?

RE: Please, I need Speed!!!!!!
you can order either from your local hobby shop, and they are also commonly available from Tower.
Both are Q-500 aircraft...... ARF construction. Good airplanes.
As Dave noted, Jett .50..... and 150 is in your grasp. And guess what..... you get to have wheels too
if you want to go for the top speed, get the SS muffler combined with the Jett 50. Tuned for higher rpm... perfect with the pylon D-1 series APC props. Runs like a 428 pylon engine on steroids.
If you want something more along the lines of a Magnum, look up [link=http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/showprofile.asp?memID=92292]Angel [/link] on here (past threads). He has a few aircraft that will most definately suit your speed needs.

RE: Please, I need Speed!!!!!!
Has anyone flown a sonic 500. I like the looks of it. I was thinking of a Rossi 53 with long pipe and APC 9x8 prop. What do you think. I am looking for something in the 150- 175 MPH range.
Thanks you are a big help

RE: Please, I need Speed!!!!!!
I have flown the Sonic, the older ARC version, not the newer ARF version. They are the same basic plane, just different levels of completion. With a Rossi .53 I don't think you will see 150-175 mph.
I would estimate it closer to the 130-140 mph range.
Great flying plane.

RE: Please, I need Speed!!!!!!
The other plane I am looking at is the viper. I just downloaded a short clip and it seems to fly great. Is it any faster than the sonic and how does it preforme. Can I use the rossi, it alittle heavy?

Freebird......
Any of the Q-500 aircraft will get you very good speed, and all of them fly well and are well behaved.
For ARF's, the Viper and Predator are a bit faster (and better constructed) than the Sonic 500. The Sonic is basically an ARF version of a Scat Cat, and that design has been around since the early 1980s.
Hanging a full-size tuned pipe on a Q-500 aircraft tends to do more harm than good.......too much drag. Usually not worth the trade-off.
As Dave noted, do not expect to see much over 140 with a Sonic and the Rossi. With the right prop, you can probably push a Predator up near 145 with the engine. I'd imagine the GP Viper would be close to that.
In a non-racing environment, and with a top end tuned and properly propped engine, you can push a well built Q-500 airframe over 175 mph in level flight. This takes a great deal of care, setup and good construction.
I am not sure if a Rossi 53 can take any Q-500 airframe up in that range. It might.
I know the Jett SJ-50 SS setup can exceed 428 racing performance.

RE: Please, I need Speed!!!!!!
OK
I think I am going with the viper for speed and performance. A problem I have already seen is it comes with only a 6 OZ. fuel tank. The Rossi loves fuel and would only make a 3 1/2 min flight. Has anyone istalled a biger fuel tank, and was it a big deal.
Thanks!!!

RE: Please, I need Speed!!!!!!
you will be hard pressed to install anything more than 6oz tanks in Q-500 aircraft.
best bet is to install a bubble free tank from either Tetra or Jett. This way you can use all 6 oz without the engine going lean. But that is not an absolute necessity.

RE: Please, I need Speed!!!!!!
I did see the Stinger .40 with side exhaust. It is a super fast and slick looking plane, but there is very little info on the site. No pricing, examples of the stinger side exhaust, or online ordering. I did fill out the order form & pressed send. I really do not know what it did because nothing ever happened.I may have missed something.
Thanks

Hi Freebird..
When did you fill out the form?
The site is currently being updated since I took over production.. there could be a gap somewhere.
I currently working on the backlog and getting orders done for dealers first.
I will be taking orders soon.. keep an eye on the site.. and if there is anything you want to know you van always contact me at [email protected]
Cheers
Peter

RE: Please, I need Speed!!!!!!
On the info page it says you need a 45mm/ 1.75" spinner... My Stinger needed a 2" spinner. So I got a 2" counterbalanced spinner from Jett when I ordered my engine... good thing I ordered the plane first, and the engine next, or I would have been stuck with a spinner I have no use for. Since the Jett spinners are intergrated into the engine, the spinner backplate mounts directly on the crankshaft and replaces the prop driver.
It has a semi symmetrical airfoil.
The tail feathers are a balsa-plywood-balsa lamination, with cutouts already in place in the plywood for the hinges.
The only difference between the side and the rear exhaust model is the "cockpit" (glass part that is glued in top of the wing). The rear exhaust cockpit has an indent to receive a tuned pipe.
What more do you want to know?
