Default EXTREME SPEED GUYS- Go look at the F-1 plane for sale right now!!

Hi Guys,
I already took one for myself, but there is another F-1 ship listed in the Airplane for Sale section right now. I know the builder and I can tell you this is as good as it gets!

Wow.... looks like Bob's and Lloyd's old planes. Awesome ships.

Price is definately right....and it comes with the Nelson F-1 engine installed.

Id grab one, but there's nowhere around my area to fly it

I just got the email from Lloyd, and it looks like the Green Shark is all mine, and he's even throwing a few props in there for me.

I can't wait to see this thing.

Thanks for the heads up Lewis.

Hi Dave,
Glad you got it, I took the Kazi. All of Lloyd's stuff is top shelf and his finishes are as good as they get. I am going to TRY to put a muffled pip on it, or I have another X45 like the one I did for David Hill. This is probably one of the best deal you will ever get!!!!

Hi Lewis and Dave,
Sure I go ahead, I do all of this work, glassing, sanding painting ETC and you guys get turn key planes WITH engines for $300. Hmmm, you must be living right. Maybe we can start up our own group EXTREME SPEED F-1 . Does anyone know just how fast it is possble to get one of these beuties going? If I am in level flight in the 180's, how hard would it be to go over 200 in a dive.

Now a servo quetion. I am using JR 3121 servos, are they OK for this kind of speed?

I'm just concerned about that loud, unmuffled Nelson. That has got to roar. I've seen plenty of Lloyds planes, and I agree, his work is excellent. He had one at the Nats this year with a beautifull Budweiser scheme that looked awesome. Too bad it didn't survive the week, in fact I think he had a rough week in terms of carnage.

The 3121s are perfect for the plane. I use them in Q40's all the time. I don't like $65 per servo, but they are small, light, and strong. Just what you need for these.

200 mph might be stretching it a hair, but I'm not sure it would be impposible out of a steep dive.

I just couldn't pass up that bright green.

It really doesn't take very much servo torque. I raced F1 with Novak servos that only had 27 in-oz of torque. I liked them because they had heavy duty gears (designed for rc cars). Today, about any servo with ball bearing is good, because the mechanical advantage of the controls require very little servo torque. Use full throw of the radio so the servos have maximum throw and long horns at the control.

As far as exceed 200, any slight dive should get you there. Also, as you move the CG back and reduce the control throw on the elevator it will get faster too. Try moving your tank to the CG once you find the best balance point.

Hi Dave,
Boy that is a beauty!!! How are you going to handle the exhaust? I wonder if you could run a tuned pipe on it to quiet it down? I really don't think you will run it open exhaust are you? I emailed Lewis, he said he is either going to run a muffled tuned pipe or see if there might be any suggestions from Henry Nelson. I remeber what the old Rossi 60's sounded like in Carrier, but I can't even imagine what these are like

I have been around pylon racers my entire life.. I never wear ear plugs for the QM40's or Q500's.. These F1's these are a different breed, so loud it'll hurt you're head.. That;s my only regret in pylon racing was not being able to race F1.. The only thing ive found that's louder than a F1 are the UC Speed Jets.. Good pick up Dave, hope you enjoy the airplane..

Just a little update on the Shark.

I received the plane shortly after Thanksgiving, and unfortunately the box was pretty crushed on one end, and the wing tip (about last 2") was basically broken off. There were also a few gouges in the wing. The plane had been packed very nicely, and it was a beauty (better than the pictures show) There is some very nice airbrushed shadows around droplets.

Needless to say, we filed a claim with the shipper (UPS) for $300 (sell price). At that point, it was, wait, wait, wait. A couple times, I thought for sure this was a lost cause, but the shipper kept hounding UPS and we finally got a settlement. I received a check for $230 the other day, and I get to keep the plane and motor. I can fix the damage pretty easily, although I won't be able to fix the finish perfectly, it won't be that noticeable with only a couple hours work max.

Although it was a bit frustrating, it all worked out in the end, and I got a real nice plane an engine for $70.

Hows that for a deal
