Looks good to me also. The doddger was always a good flying plane. It looks like you have made some nice improvements.

Whadda ya think...? QJ-40
Do I remember right that you also have a SJ-50? I would love to see some camparisons between the two engines with the short black QJ-40 muffler.

The SJ-50 and QJ-40 perform nearly the same with the short Q-500 muffler. The only difference is really that the 50 will idle better, and its a bit easier to needle. The QJ-40 is a bit higher timed, but the SJ-50 has a bit more brute power. So either engine with the correct prop will get up into that 19.5K rpm range needed for the short muffler to work. The trick is prop selection. The QJ will unload more in the air... but the SJ-50 will turn more prop easier. Tends to work out, they like similar props configured this way.

I suggest the 8.75x9W and 8.8 x 8.75 props to start off with on the QJ-40 (if you do not have other favorites in mind)

Dub sells the SJ-50 and quickie muffler combination quite often just for sport flying Q-500 and QM type applications.

You will enjoy the Doddger. Good airplane. Grunk and Joe Dodd came up with a well balanced design there. The only thing I did on mine was to use blade tips instead of the tip-winglet-plates the kits came stock with.
