mounted a nelson on this one.
I had it out last week and the plane is super fast. it's so thin it is hard to see wen it's coming in from a dive. this is the second wing. i had a mid air last week. i ripped off the tail of a Texan passing it. both planes came down lucky mine landed in the tall weeds. the soft landing saved the fuse. some damage but not much. the wing was finished. I have no idea how fast this setup can do. i'm sure some guys can give a ball park figure. the prop is a 8.75*8.25.
I had the aresti landing gear on this plane. I trimmed it some and then had it welded together and mounted it with the sweep forward. it looked nice. but in the crash the landing gear was lost. it was a better landing gear than the stock gear. it was stiffer.
I have a new set that needs to be welded again. i sandblasted the blue paint off.

Didja have to do much to get the Nelson in? I've got a OS .28 FX in mine but wouldn't mind a little more horsepower.

Default engine

not really. with the dremmel i shaved the stock engine mount some and the nelson squeezed right in. wound up with a little down thrust also.

Default A very extreme combo....

bugsiegel....now that I'm all through LOL....my hat is completely off to you " SIR ".

You must be a "wild, and crazy guy", to come up with a combo like that !!! ( Bless You )...Go fast, and turn left....( landings are better with wheels )....

Does that nelson have a throttle? Where did you get it?

Default rcsmp.com

i fly in brooklyn. Marine Park.
www.rcsmp.com
i have four flights on the plane but i haven't really pushed it yet because i'm not used to the speed. I fly funfly planes on a regular basis so this plane is completely different. I don't want to kill anyone trying to push the plane. but so far it's fast. when I level it off I give it a good push and it comes by fast. the plane has a whistle to it also. I think that comes from the way the ailerons are designed. there is a little pocket on the bottom of the hinge line. I have to seal them also.
I'll say this though. from the line the engine will take this 4.5lb plane right off the ground. The thing is when I make a long pass and point the plane back it's almost impossible to see. when it comes straight at me there is nothing to look at.

I have one of those too with a MDS 46 with a pipe. Very fast, but how is your landings. Mine has no control at low speeds. The Ele & Air go south , do you have the same problem with yours ?
Brownies in Staten Island has landing gears for this plane ,they are very strong.

I find I have to go to high elevator with the heavy engine when landing.
the stock landing gear is too flexable..... makes the plane bounce.

Default Balance?

Where you able to balance the plane at the indicated CG?

I'm thinking about doing the same setup you have

Thanks,
Edgar

Default whistle

Mine has a whistle in it too. All my gaps are sealed. I think it might be that hole where the elevator passes through. You could put more prop on that model. Try 8.8x8.75 APC. Have fun

The wistle you hear is generally the sound of the airframe itself and not just an open hinge line. I have fast slope ships and F5B gliders that all make a whistle on fast low passes. Depending on what airfoil it is and what sticks out on a wing or fuse can determine what kind of sound you get and how loud.
