Default I need a hot .15!

Hi Guys

I'm looking for a hot .15 to put into a 1/12 Reno racer. I already have a Nelson, but don't want to shell out the $$ for another. I would like another RJL Conquest .15 but they have been out of production for quite a while. Don't want to run a .25 size as they are too heavy. Any suggestions? Carb would be nice but not mandatory.

Thanks for the help.

Look around for another Cox. They are out there, and you can still find them. They still line the drawers of some of the older QM15 racers.

If not a conquest, then try the OS 15 CV-X?, or Irvine 15XR from Just Engines. Both are mighty pricey however. A couple of other choices would be MVVS or Norvel. Don't know firsthand about MVVS, but I understand it's potent. The Norvel is very potent , but can be finicky. That's why the OS or Irvine are tops, high power yet behave admirably. Still, Dave is right, I'd look harder for a conquest.

Thanks for the ideas. I had an MVVS .15 but didn't care for it. I have a .21 and .26 and they are awesome though! Might give the Norvel a try. Anyone run a Profi?

Thanks

I have two of them, but wouldn't sell them. One is practically new and is hanging on the nose of a spad gnat combat plane.

Last I heard, they were out of stock, and did not plan on making them any more.

I have a pair of older Rossi .15's. Front induction (perry carbs), rear exhaust. I have flown them both, then they sat for about 4-5 years. Tried this summer to get either to run and couldn't. Didn't spend a lot of time with them but perhaps some engine guru could make em fire. I've heard they are pretty rare and still pretty valuable. Proably wind up parting with them as I don't have the time or knowledge to mess with them. I even have a couple little pipes for em.

I've been trying to get RJL's and parts out of MECOA for close to 2 years with no luck. I did stumble onto a potential jewel though. I was lamenting to a buddy about my lack of .15's and he brought me a rear intake rear exhaust Russian made .15 complete with a pipe new in the box. No idea what it is. The markings and intructions are all in Cryllic (sp?). The best I can make out it says" UCTKAM". Any ideas?

P.s. It may only be a 1.5cc and not a .15

I found it on EBAY and it is indeed an .09. I think I will build a Mini Whiplash for it instead.

...or you can go with the Mini Dust from Winger Models: http://www.wingermodels.rchomepage.com/dust.htm

So, what is the brand of engine?

I can't pronounce the name of the engine, its in Russian. It is in my post above though. I am going to do a bagged glass over foam wing for it.

Aside from F2A engines (totally unsuitable for what you want to do) the fastest .15s are the Nelsons. If you want something pretty fast that's still made today, try a F2D engine. There's a variant of the Cyclon PC4 that has an RC carb:

http://www.cyclonengines.narod.ru/RC.html

These aren't nearly as fast as a Nelson (or a 1980s Rossi), they need toothpick-like fiberglass/carbon props, and run at an earsplitting 30,000 RPM, but they are fast and very lightweight.
