Default FAST!!!!

Made you look with that subject line... I finally got a perfect flight out of my Twin Outlaw. Great separation from the dolly and some great high speed passes. It's easily running 40mph faster than my Diamond Dust or Magnum and they run an honest 145+ so I figure it's getting close to the magic 200!!!! All that, no damage and it's ready to fly again....

WOW!

thats awesome man! You gotta post a video on that thing. Or at least record the sound it makes with both engines on pipes! I bet its unreal!

Those look like MVVS .40 somethings .49 maybe?

They would kick me out of RCU if I used the adjectives that describe the sound this thing makes, totally unreal. Two MVVS .40 Q500 motors, modified by MVVS, would be illegal for Q500 as they are, oversized carbs, porting, the pipes, etc...

I bet it does sound good. Nice setup!

So MVVS did some mods to it. I have a few MVVS engines but never had any option to mod any. I have a oversized carbs but as far as porting none. How did you go about getting the mods done by MVVS? I would'nt mind get some of mine done also.

Talk to Robert at MVVS, they can do any modifying. Doing engine run ups when I built this thing it took three people to hold it down and yes all our ears were ringing. I had a big reverberation problem when I first started it causing so really harsh vibrations, the engines were ringing off each other. One of the guys here had the solution. I had the props set up so that coming upon the compression the props were level. The trick was to off set one 45° to the right and one 45° to the left.

That's not MVVS... it's Morris Hobbies. Did't know they did that kind of service to engines. Nice to hear they did a good job with them.
What props are you running and at what RPM?

Twin speeders are cool. The sound is an experience on its own. Just watch it when one of them engines flames out. Ah well, at least you've got carbs to throttle down the other one...

Good job!

Running plain APC 8X8's, not sure of the RPM's and honestly don't care. Flame out is a non issue with the engines that close and the size of the verticle stab and rudder.

I second to the video!

I was curious about the mods to MVVS because I have a .26 combat wombat engine I will be taking out of my Shrike. I cracked my spars for the second time and now just gonna give up on my Shrike. I may build another one this time reinforcing it. But it would be cool to get that .26 modified for my next Shrike or what ever project I decide to take on.

Floored,

I can assure you... both of them engines on the pipe... coming out of a real mean dive... the sound is awesome...!
I've seen this kind of thing, but with a couple of 21's... without thottle... like I said, awesome... until one of 'em flamed out... zig, zag, zig again, zag into the ground...

Go Evan! And get some damn video up there!

Dolly pictures.... The holes are to balance it so if it sticks to the airplane during the flight (it did the first flight) and to let air flow through to aid separation. Notice the steerable tail wheel that the rudder lays in, works great...

Okay... here's a link to some video. If any of you can do a doppler speed measurement on it let me know. I have the first flight where the dolly stuck on the whole flight and even the landing, the second flight where I crashed it trying to get the dolly to come off and the fourth flight which was without dolly but the engines weren't synched too well. Oh, and check out the wild take off when the left engine suddenly came up on the pipe!!!

Thanks.... We usually fly fast every weekend, usually sundays as I work saturdays. The Banditos(twin) is a special case but we usually have Outlaws, Diamond Dusts, and Magnums every weekend, drop a post if you want to come and fly fast with us and I'll pass the word to all the other speedsters...

Great vid! The sound of twins screaming is pretty amazing. Is every takeoff that exciting?

No, thank God, if you look at the other take off where the dolly sticks you'll see that both engines are synched and it's a very straight easy takeoff.

Man,

I've been waiting for this video for a long time... Just wonderful !!! [sm=thumbup.gif][sm=thumbup.gif][sm=thumbup.gif][sm=thumbup.gif]

I would love to hear it in real !

Very impressive take off... Was the unexpected yaw due to side wind or to engine rpm mismatch ?

Cheers.
