Bob,
I hope someone out there will post the site. Considering the time/effort $150 isn't a bad price if the quality is good. But you have to build at least one. I have another short kit ready to go if this one has an accident.... Pete

Rocket, If I can get this launch thing down, I'm thinking of enlarging the plans and building a .46 size. How's the launcher coming along? I might be interested in making one (if it works for you) for the larger one.

FalconWings,
The launcher is on hold for now. After lowering the grade and making a new "sled" It didn't work. Lost a prop and made a small hole in the monokote. I'm not sure if I'm using the right materials. The Whiplash launcher looks like it's made of narrow carbon fiber rails with a very small sled. I may not have been giving it enough elevator either. I don't want to give up on the idea yet but, I want to get better at takeoff with someone tossing it first. will post progress as it comes.
Say, if you go bigger you may as well add retracts. The VORTEX by Bruce Tharp is bigger and can accommodate retracts. Pete

I finally have my Outlaw done. I told one of my friends that I could have built, flown, and crashed 3 Diamond Dusts in the time it took me to build and cover this one. Winter has come to central Indiana so I don't know when I will get to fly it. It finished out at 48 oz.

Here is the first pic.

John,
Great plane. Looks like a fine job. I know what you mean about building time but wait until you fly it. The stand looks great also, you will have to turn the plane around to start the engine since there is not enough clearance while it's running (Been there done that). Still beats resting it on a table or holding it to start it as I have seen others do. Stay warm, Pete

Still getting used to how splat this thing coming down at full throttle in a roll, you know, getting it to stop right now, then go flat. Weighs 48OZ. Need a little bit more color on the top though.

Default Great Ideas for the NEXT one...

Anthony,
Also a great looking plane. We are getting some nice color schemes on the site. Lots of ideas for the next Outlaw. I have not tried the splat yet. How do you enter it and what are the stick moves to do it? thanks, Pete

I flew mine for the first time yesterday. Not as fast as my Diamond Dust but much quicker roll rate and I think it will loop tighter without snapping out. I was getting fuel starvation on Hi-G turns so I will have to re-route fuel lines. I tried the "Splat" style manuever but I don't remember exactly what it did when Jerry Smith did it. It flew nicely with the 25FX and tuned pipe. Think how much better it would do with a 32SX.

Default Get the 32...

Glad to hear you had success with your first flights. The OS32 with either a pipe or mousse can will really kick it up a notch. Pete

Default piledriver or smash

What control inputs are pilots using to make the dramatic piledriver or splat type maneuver? Also, does anyone know anybody selling framed up or ARF Outlaws?

Thanks,

WOW, Glad to hear that you had a good flight. If you were like me your knees were knocking for 10 min after Post a picture of your bird when you get a chance.

Unfortunately my ship had a Terra firma encounter but enough can be salvaged for a faster build of the next one Pete

HEY ROCKETMAN! Haven't heard from ya in awhile. It's good to know that your still out there tearin' it up! To tell the truth, I was drained after I got home from flying. The adrenaline rush was enough to kill me! I've got a pic posted in my gallery.

Paul,
I will try to get a picture on tomorrow. Basically the servo arm points across the middle bay and is linked via pushrod to the opposite side of the rudder. Use long servo arms as you want as much throw as you can get in order to flat spin and do a pile driver. Pete

FalconWings10,
Thanks, If this one flys as good as the last one they will be knockin.

C roundy,
The piss on image was an impulse buy. I went to the local vinyl sign shop and picked out the western lettering saw it and had to have it. They can put anything there so I chose DD. We have a couple of Wild Wiz and Outlaws at out field but no DD's so It's going to get some laughs at our club. No offense it's for fun.

Phillybaby,
Great picture. I agree keep the covering. I'm expecting my neon red to fade also with luck. About your rudder. Please post your pictures and method on this thread for others to see.

This thread is open to any Outlaw builder to add a tip or two. Building, setups, and flying.

Fly'em if you got'em, Pete
