Default how fast?

I am very sure this has been asked 1000 times before, but I cant find anything via search, so I am going to ask for the 1001st time...

just how fast to these speed planes go? And at what size are these aircraft?

I am going to assume, these arent very big *shrug*

Well an average pylon (GP Viper with a TT Pro-46 turning a 9x8 APC will hit 12MPH-)

A GP Patriot with a Jett-50 and 9x9 apc may be a tad faster in a straight away-

The DD and Whiplash can easily approach 20 with the Jett fire mentioned, 15MPH with a BB 46-

The Weston Magnum can hit 20MPH or close, with the modified Webra (West-50) turning an 12x4 @ 9,500 RPM's

And an Ultrasport with an Irvine-53 will getcha about 7MPH

What people claim is usually false, put a radr gun on a good running "The Weston Magnum can hit 200 or close, with the modified Webra (West-50) turning an 8x8 20K" and you'll see 150 or less.

Put the same gun on a DD with a MVVS Quicky motor(modified at that) or a MVVS .59, either of which are much more potent than an OS .46, and you'll see the same 150 or less.

A true 200mph prop plane is very rare.

And the Ultra sport, HAAAA....

How Fast?

Here is what little I know... Scott Manning flying a giant scale Super Corsair during the late 90's, heyday of the Madera Unlimited Races was radar checked at about 245mph. I believe it was powered by a highly modified Herbranson 300 CC (about 18 Cubic Inches) engine on alcohol. Unfortunately, it takes a big sack of bucks to duplicate this feat.

I imagine now that the unlimited r/c guys are knocking on 300 mph or so.

I had a Police Officer willing to clock my planes with radar gun before. I was going to see how fast my Diamond Dust went but needle valve broke and I couldn't get it run. Just my luck!

So I took my trainer up and got it as high as I could and put it into a dive straight down. The plane sounded like it was going to fall apart, ailerons almost about to flutter. I did this a few times then landed. He said it did 38mph going straight and 83mph in a dive. I was surprised that the dang thing did hit 83mph. Just to bad I couldn't get radar on my DD.......I have no clue how fast that thing went. People always asked me and all I could say was either "I don't know" or "over a 100mph"

With statements like this it is no wonder you "Speed" guys have little credibility. Do the arithmetic.

This is true, a plane goes faster every time the subject is brought up. Our local Giant Scale Corsair man had his up today and it was moving. The club bought a new radar gun and we got it at 98mph top speed after about 4 passes. At sea level it would be around 115mph.
