FlooredCobra,
The single dust in the picture was completely sheeted, and I loved it.It was solid, and the covering didn't get holes in it every time I landed. It also seemed to have better penetration, but that is only my opinion.(Before some nimrod chimes in.)It was a clipped wing dust with a JetFire 50,and was the fastest dust or whiplash I've seen to date.Dustflyer witnessed it and said it was the fastest he had seen also.It was also built by Dave, and I'm sure he would be happy to answer any questions.

Ed,
Maybe I missed your tongue-in-cheek humor.I just finished a loooong 5 day trip, and came home to a wife with some serious PMS.She's riding a broom around the house as we speak. So your wise-ass posts, although meant to be in good fun I'm sure, broke the seal on all my stored up venom.Bob says your OK,and that means something,so I'll say I shouldn't have been so thin-skinned.I just thought you were one of those people who just has nothing good to say,and usually is clueless on the subject at hand.Having said all that,I think this twin will be good for 375-400mph,no??My point is...peace!

Sounds like the sheeting idea is a good way to go. I am going to give it a shot.

One quick question though, did you make any kind of rig to keep wingtips off table during glueing? What I mean is at the center the fuse the ribs are larger than the wing tips. My concern was that I would get to glueing and might press a little to hard toward the wingtips making my wing warp.

Warping is something I noticed on my DD that just had covering on it. I guess maybe it had some tension in it and being in sun the covering loosened up and it warped. I noticed that it was warped because my elevons were not straight across like it started out when it was new. So while flying I was fighting warping of wing with the elevons. I am sure this reduced speed some counter acting a not so straight surface. I am sure with the sheeting I wont have this problem. I hope!

FLOOREDCOBA

Yes i build a rig to hold the outer egdes in place till both side are sheeted, so far i had on problems doing it this way. Attach are two of the forms that i use the small one on the door is stander size dust, and the big one was for my monster dust. Hope this answers your question. dave

Just gets cooler and cooler! I would need a diaper on the first flight... [X(]

That thing is unbelievably thin! I especially like the APC on one side and MA on the other, you will end up with the delta flying left big-time

You have some high-torque servos lying down in there somewhere?

Cool deal man--

Razor

Just a joke, the props in the picture are 9" for spacing only, we will use APC 8.8 X 9.0 (also see post #3 this thread) will work on the bottom covering tonight probably yellow with a black strip. Thanks for all the positive comments, I'm up for the test flight. later

Glad you are getting your DC-9 cert back. Does that include MD and 717 training too? or just the type requal?

I figured something of an aircraft that radical might be good for an award at the show

We wont have a booth there. I think we are going to join the RCU ad campaign there though. They are the "offical bag sponsor" for the WRAM show. I might include some discount coupons in the bag.

We will be at Toledo though. When the plane is done, make sure to send me some hi-res photos, and I will put it in the brag-book we keep on the table (along with your other flag dust)

Are you going to hand launch that beast, or do you have some kind of take off rail/dolly?

Ever thought of making a plan available??

Good luck with it. It's a hot design!

I can strongly advise to launching a DUST by hand.... even with two FIRE 50'sfor power.... I looked at those videos in the other thread, and it looked pathetic! (no offence meant)!
I just had a. 32 for power (on a JETT muffler), and it went like roasted *****... I just threw that thing up vertically, and other than a slight torque roll there were no ill effects at all...
So I can just image how that thing will go with some serious HP up front...

Right now the plan is to hand launch but for interest i build a ni rod in the center (rear to carbon fiber rod ) for a 5/32 rod placed in the ground for vertical take off, hope it works.

I been making templets of most of the parts used, if i plan to build any more planes like this one, will see after the test flight i except all to go well.
