Default Cowling for Speed???

How much does the cowl affect speed? I have an Ultra Sport that I think will run around 100mph without cowl. OS 61FX is the powerplant for this wonderful airplane. I am thinking of more speed now and am considering putting the cowling on her. Will this increase the speed by a noticeable amount?

Try it and see, it's gotta help. I re-cowled my old Kaos with all balsa
when I put this motor in. If nothing else it looks better.

I personally don't think it will be all that noticeable. Throw a Jett 90 on your Ultra Sport, and you'll definately notice a difference in speed!

Careful with the sped estimations.... I got torn up a couple days ago when someone asked how fast our Speed-Planes go

It will not be noticeable on a sport airplane- as Dave said sure looks better though!
