I noticed your canopy is painted black. Since versions 2 had a canopy cracking problem, did you reinforce your canopy&paint? How is it holding up?
Thanks

version 2 had a slightly larger wing. That was where the CG locations got mixed up between the two. They were very silimar.

I've been watching and waiting for a few years for one of the Blue Angel's F-18's. I'd like One F-18 and one Thunder Bird F-16. There are more of us out here waiting on them than you think.

Agreed. I would buy a new F16 or 18 if they were offered today.
There is what I suspect to be a version 1 (yellow ) for sale locally. Were they worth considering and what short comings did they have vs later versions?

Steve,
I think you need to make a list..... you could probably fill a container and do one more production run. I would even be willing to put down a deposit. Version 3 really was the best Prop jet arf! my version 2 was great, but was a bit bulkier, heavier, and not as fast as the version 3. Who ever re-tooled V3 got it right.
I would just produce an AIRFRAME ONLY arf to keep the cost down... and forget about the hardware.... most dont use it anyway....
We can get our own hinges, fuel tanks, screws, pushrods, etc.... Set it up for retracts but do not include any...... most will probably get a set of electrics from e-flite.
You can probably produce the airframe cheap.
If i can help you set this thing up in any way... let me know!
Rich

exactly right! I painted the canopy black from the inside and tape it on with white electrical tape.... screwing it on just makes it crack. I really want a version 3 plane with the latch on canopy.

I've owned other propjets like Patriot XL and Kangke F20 and agree that the Cermark F16 is hands down the best looking/flying propjet. Too bad they stopped production. I still have a version 3 that I bring out only during the summer to maintain air supremacy! Mine has the Jett 90L up front to give that big, hungry dog growl at the flight line. By the way, I agree that the stock hardware is junk for this type of performance plane so leaving them out will help control cost. The air retracts included are solid though, and well priced at 100 bucks.

I understand at the end of the day it's a business and Cermark must continue to make money. However I would do a bit more market research before you dismiss the idea of another production run. If you could organize a poll on a site <Web Forum/Facebook whatever> you might be very surprised at the results.
Manufactures like Winryder for example took a many many deposits months ago for a Hawker Hurricane. Perhaps it generated enough interest that now E-Flite has produced a Hurricane as well to be released in May of 2011. Who would have ever thought a 1400mm+ WS Foam Hawker Hurricane. Not a Zero, Corsair, Mustang, but a Hurricane! Why? Because they listened to what their customers wanted.
Not too long ago I pleaded with Charlie from Ultrafly. I tried to alert him that the future (electric parkflyers) was in 50"ws EPO foam models. He argued no one would buy them and there was no way he could sell enough to cover costs.
FMS is now churning out 1400mm EPO foam models (worldwide) and making a tidy profit for themselves while Ultrafly is basically out of business.
Do not make the same mistake of under estimating your customers!
Kindest Regards

Richard and Tommy,
I will definitely revisit it with your suggestions in mind. Both of you have brought up variables that were not addressed previously.

It's been awile but I have versions 2 and 3 both have way tooooo many flights between them Version #2 needs a canopy, and I damaged the other one at the end of last season. It is very fixable though.I would all so go on a list to get eather the 18 or 16.They both fly good.

Perhaps a way to offset building costs (labor?) a ARC version should be released? In the past reps from the major retailers in the USA (Horizon, Hobbico and Hobby People) have been adamant that ARCs don't sell.
Oh really? I think if Cermark was upfront with us and let us know they for example could do a ARC, but could NOT do a ARF I know for sure I would be in for a ARC!
I really think their is a nich for the Cermark Propjets. With the exception of the Hangar 9 Jackal not much new has come our way anytime soon. Were primed and ready for something new!!
Let us know what we can do to help Steve.

RE: THE NEW CERMARK F-16 BUILD IT BETTER, STRONGER, AND FASTER!!!
I tend to disagree that an ARC version of the Cermark propjets would do well.
Big companies like Horizon Hobbies and Great Planes know what those numbers are since they are the major distributors in the US.
They supply the Hobby Shops. ARC just do not do well today, sorry to say.
The majority that has money to spend wants to get in the air as soon as their box is in their hand and that's how they consider their purchase.
This is the biggest market for Major companies if they want to make money.
When you consider the Cermark propjets and an ARC version that would require painting skills and equipment.
The ARF version is the only option for major sales. This is what made these jets popular.
If and when Cermark is able to bring back these 2 propjets price will have increased not decreased, I doubt that they will or can hold the original pricing.
An ARC is just not viable for a model that requires the end user to paint at this level.
Steve I hope that it’s possible to bring back these planes again for another run. Looking forward to a New airframe.

RE: THE NEW CERMARK F-16 BUILD IT BETTER, STRONGER, AND FASTER!!!
I just purchased a used Cermark F-16 in the Thunderbird scheme with an O.S. 91 2 stroke in her nose. Can someone please tell me the CG on this aircraft? Thanks.

RE: THE NEW CERMARK F-16 BUILD IT BETTER, STRONGER, AND FASTER!!!
The CG for this aircraft is located 7 1/2" back from the leading edge of the wing root. The assembly manual indicating it is 8 1/2" is incorrect.
NOTE - this information is based on the airplane I bought 2 years ago from Cermark. Mine is a version 3.
Steven Chao at Cermark monitors this forum and may have additional input on the CG for other vintages of this airplane.

You need to identify what version you bought. V2 has a screw on canopy and V3 has a removable canopy hatch. Which one do you have?

Version 2, screw on canopy, the recommended starting CG is 8.5".
Version 3, latch type canopy, the recommended starting CG is 7.5".
The measurement is taken from the wing root.

RE: THE NEW CERMARK F-16 BUILD IT BETTER, STRONGER, AND FASTER!!!
I just got a great deal on one of these F16's. I bought it with everything but a receiver RTF for $450. I have been looking for one of these for sometime now and I for one would buy a spare F16 and a F18 if they came back out. It sounds to me like there are a lot of people out there that Cermark should consider another run. I agree with others on here, make a list and give a deposit and lets get this rolling again.

Saw it last night looking for (found!) and Ultrathrust muffler.
