Default What Delta Plane Mode Is This????

Does anyone know what plane/kit this is?

I picked it up from a swap meet and put a TT GP-42 on it. If flies fairly well the way I have it configured but I would like to know what the proper CG is and the recommended surface deflections.

It has a single vertical stabilizer with no rudder, outside airlons tied to one servo (I would guess bellcranks within wing structure), and a large elevator in the center of the trailing edge. It is setup with landing gears, 2 mains and a steerable nose.

Compared to others I've seen, like the Diamond Dust, it appears to have a fairly thick wing.

I'm not going to break any speed records but even for a TT GP-42 it moves out pretty good. My initial prop was a 10x7, will be moving to a 9x9 to gain some more speed. I'm also looking for a header for the TT GP-42 so I can mount a tune pipe on it.

The plane in your photo is a SkyFire 40 or the original first run kit ( I forget what name it originally went by.)

I have a complete kit sitting in a box in my building room.

I think the company who built the kit I have is Four Pi? They did a 're-kit' of another manufacturers kit.

If it's built per plans - there is one single servo for the ailerons and nose gear.

Is the motor mount built from two pieces of hard wood?

I was thinking about building the kit I have - except I was going to go with dual vertical stabs - similar to the diamond dust.

How does the stock kit fly? Is yours covered or glassed?

By the way.. here is another thread regarding this plane:

There is a single servo that controls both the airlons and nose gear. I'm assuming the airlons are directly connected to bell cranks and the servo controls them. The nose gear is a flexible cable that takes a 90-degree turn within the wing before getting to the steering arm.

The motor mount is two pieces of hard wood, though this airplane appears to have seen quite a bit of use and has seen several engines -- motor mount has been redrilled-refilled-redrilled several times, including my engine mounting.

How does the stock kit fly? Is yours covered or glassed?
It is covered with a heat-shrink covering, which appears to be in excellant shape.

I have a complete kit sitting in a box in my building room.
Can you give me the particulars of the plane, i.e., CG, and control deflections?

Thanks

Here is a phot of the plans:

The CG is clearly marked.

I will get a closer look at the plans tonight and let you know what I find out about the throws.
