look for a small delta or something with swept back wings.
Have you got a tuned pipe for the irvine that would help

Try to get your hands on the August issue of Radio Control Model Wolrd magazine. It included a free pull out plan for a Mini-Kangaroo that look very promising. Simple construction and good looks.

Here is a link with a construction thread:

Your basic quickee will do about 95 mph with a .25 sized engine. We use to race them locally a few years ago with O.S. .25FX's the irvine should be close to the same speed.

I second what Dave said...

Any decent Q-500 will fly great with a .25 up front. A good ole Predator ARF is a good starting point

I use to race them OS .25 engines, Webra .28 engines. 9x6 prop. Flys great.

I currently fly one of my old Scat Cat q-500 planes with a 25 year old ST.29 engine. Old 8.75x7 rev-up prop - easily is flying over 80 mph. The webra and OS engines turned much faster, so were likely closer to 90 mph.

The irvine is a good engine. More on par with the OS and Webra.

The only thing missing is you will likely have to add an ounce to the nose of the plane, or move some radio gear/battery forward. I simply have a heavy-hub spinner nut on my scat cat. I can swap between the ST29 and the Jett SS40 with no trim change.

Also,
this little bird Wild Hare RC has now looks promising. Small LR-1. Sorta an F-1 looking ship.

Bob, we use to use the 4 holed square "Hayes" mount when we ran 25's since the bolt pattern was the same as the Neslon Backplate mount. It looked a little odd, but if you mount the engine out on the front of the rails we were able to get the balance ok without moving things forward. This way we could switch between our .46's and .25's pretty easily without moving everything around. I always liked the old wide blade MAS 8x6, seemed to be the best tradeoff in terms of flat line speed and cornering speed. For flat line speed the APC 7.8x6 seemed about the best and we could just top 100 mph on a long radar strafing run if everything was working good.

The Deltas are fine, and have a cool fun factor, but I just gotta have landing gear.

Another idea would be one of those hand launced 15 sized G.P. combat planes (Corsair and Mustang). My father in law had one with an O.S. 32 and I'm pretty sure it was breaking 100 mph. With the 25 you would be right in the ballpark for what your looking for.

I found a picture of my 2nd plane, a Skat Kat with .25 OS FX on the nose. You can see the engine mounted out at the end of the mount for balance reasons. Worked fine.

The ST and W-28 engines I had all had round bolt-on backplates. Someone use to make a real nice universal mount with sloted backplate holes. Fit everything from a .25 up to the Rossi .40.

Hi aksel, which 25 do you have? is it the red case or the older sport with the silver case? I'm in desperate need of an Irvine sport MKII 25
