Default How many of you have a Whiplash?

Hello everybody,
I like to ask a question, and that is how many of you have a Whiplash? And how many plan on getting one? The reason is that I airbrush R/C Cars and R/C Helicopters for a living. And was thinking of getting into custom painting the Whiplash. I like to know what everybody's think of this? So it is---

http://homepages.together.net/~justcan/

P.S. There's just heli canopies and cars bodies there! But still you can see my work.

rick has us covered well with david's paint work right from the factory..one stop shoping is what i like. but some may want to upgrade later, after they see the white thing blast by and need something to look at while going 150 mph plus.

Mort.. I think your work (and Joe's) would REALLY do well on these whiplashes too!!! You guys put so much detail on little heli canopies, I can just imagine what you'd do with a bigger canvas such as the lash!!!!!

I bought the Can-Am scheme on my whiplash which looks very awesome, but if I ever get another one in plain white, I'd be very interrested in your artwork on it!

Thanks
Deck

Default I got one..

Didn't exactly buy it..

Send me a PM I'll tell you the scheme I want, you tell me how much. The vertical fins aren't attached yet, so shipping will be a cinch.

I have a whiplash, but still have not built it because I have been to lazy to start masking the plane so it can be painted. I am going to try and get it done soon because i want to fly it.

Well im not exactly sure but probably ill paint the top red and the bottom will have wide black strips in the center and at the tips. The tail has already been painted black.

Default Low Vis

Be careful on your color choices, distiguishing the top from the bottom is a must, this thing can get pretty hard to see at 180 mph and in the proper conditions can silhouette quickly.

I always suggest bright or very dark top and leave the bottom white, stripes dont always show up as stripes so big black stripes on the bottom will become big black blurs quickly...

Your call, you seem to be a younger guy, so you have younger eye balls too, thats a plus for sure..

Either way, enjoy your whiplash!! :stupid:

Yes I am 15 years old and I know that it is neccessary to distinguish top from bottom, so I will paint the top a solid color and the bottom with stripes that are wide enoguh to be seen as stripes, so i think that will work. (hopefully). Thanks for the advice.

Default colors

I posted my pictures here. Red in middle then orange then yellow on the tips. The bottom i put red on one half and yellow on the other half I thought they were different enough that it would be very easy to tell what was what. But when it starts to roll the colors all blend into a blur and you cant tell up from down. So what BAGOSTIX says about making them different is critical. That black tail will look like the black stripe on the bottom. I would use totally different colors top and bottom plus very simple pattern on the bottom. The stripes will not be distinguishable as has been said before. I would leave most of the bottom white and just paint the tips. This is just my opinion not telling you what to do.

two possible schemes that have been suggested to me on mine were, a dale earnhardt tribute which will be black on top with his face airbrushed in the center and white bottom, or a dragon on top with something totally different on the bottom. i just told the guy to do whatever, and he has a wild imagination!---henry

Default me personally?

I'm not a designer...I just want something that is cool....You seemed to want clients, and I'm a potential client....

but I won't be able to judge whether I am one until I know approx what it costs for someone to do it up cool for me.

When you have prices set and are thus ready to take on customers, send me a note.

I have heard many nice things about the talented guy that does em right out of the whiplash factory. I'm sure your work is nice also!

For those who don't know Mort from " Just Canopies" I have purchased some helicopter canopies from him and not only does he do great work but he is a great guy and honest too. You won't go wrong with having him paint for you.....

Default thanks synth

But, I still have no clue how much it costs for any job, basic, intermediate, or complex, and what constitutes complex, etc.

Its kinda like going into a store and finding product having no prices...and being asked to shop without knowing how much the product costs...

So, guess I'm on the sidelines for now...

Have you emailed him at www.justcanopies.com ? He is probably trying to figure out how much to charge since he hasn't done any before. It's not a question of can he do it, I'm sure, but how much should he charge. When ever I have emailed Mort he has been very prompt at getting back intouch with me. Just email him and tell him you are at a standstill until you know a price. If I were you I would feel the same way not knowing where to head to from here. Good flying!!! & Be Safe!! Don

Default he was here...

He opened up the subject here, so I figured he'd respond here...so all could get the same answer at the same time...

I think you are right tho, that he doesn't know yet what he wants to charge....and each job is probably different....

I still don't know if we are talking $50, $150, or $300.....and for what...

Oh well...It isn't a priority for me....Thought it might be easy to get an idea....If it becomes a priority for me to get a custom paint job, I'll look around and call the various places...

Thanks!

Mort,
I sure you are busy at this time of year. Hope you can get involved with painting airplanes too as I know they would look great after you are finished with them. I would think your American flag paint job would be awesome on a Whiplash! One thing you will have to contend with is the extra shipping to you and back where as when they buy a Whiplash they can have it painted before shipping and when it arrives it is done rather than they receive it and then pack it up and send to you and then back again to them. Just a thought...Don
ps..good holidays to you...
