Default Viper fuel tank ?

Hi Guys,
I'm about finished with my GP Viper and I'd like to run a 6 oz tank. So far, I haven't found one that fits, at least not without trimming the front former quite a bit, which I'd rather not do. Is there one that will work, or am I stuck with a 4oz tank ?

Thanks,

Dave

I think your stuck with the small tank, Dave....'less you wanna get the Dremel out.
The Viper is meant for Club racing....for sport it would have an 8 oz. or so.

FBD.

I was afraid of that. I have a Sport Jett 50 with the red muffler on order for this plane. Roughly how much run time can I expect with this engine and a small tank ?

Thanks,

Dave

Hmm, that might work---. [>:]

a 6oz Tetra or 6 oz Jett tank should fit. Even with a 6 oz tank your probably looking at less than 5 minutes with this engine at full throttle. I would definately suggest the Jett or Tettra tank, you don't want bubbles of air leaning this engine out.

Thanks much. From the measurements I took and the dimensions I could find online, a 6oz Bubble-Jett Slim might work, if I use that Dremel a bit. I can live with 5 minutes at full throttle, for now.

I'm wondering if the composite Quickies like the Shotgun might have a bit more room. I need something that can land slow because of the short field I'll need to fly from, plus, I like the style of the Quickie planes. The Taipan looks awesome. I could just throw a Thunder Tiger 40 on the Viper and save the Jett 50 for something nicer. ( Good excuse to buy a new plane, huh ?! )

I think I might go down to the Pylon forum and ask a few questions.

Thanks much.

Dave

Just about all of the quickies I am aware of are designed around a 4, 5, or 6 oz tank.

Honestly, at those speeds, a few minutes of flying is plenty.

Ok, I was hoping for a good excuse to buy that Taipan. Hmm, we'll see.
